Common use of CREDIT FOR TRAINING Clause in Contracts

CREDIT FOR TRAINING. A. Whenever Management approves, an employee may be permitted to assume tasks which are outside the scope of the normal duties of his/her position for the purpose of gaining experience in the performance of duties in higher level positions or learning to operate such City equipment as is used by his/her department in order to gain work experience on such job or equipment. A qualified person shall be designated and shall be available to instruct and supervise the employee in the performance of such tasks or in the safe and proper operation of said equipment. Any dispute concerning the person's qualifications to instruct and supervise shall be decided by the employee's Departmental Management Representative. B. If the employee so requests: 1. The employee and his/her supervisor will jointly log the successful performance of such tasks on a form provided by Management. The form will be kept updated; and, 2. The employee's department will provide confirmation of such performance on a form titled "Verification of Work Experience" (Personnel Department form PD 21R #11-74), so that it may be utilized by the employee whenever such verification is required to establish eligibility to take an examination.
