Standby Pay. Standby pay shall be at the rate of four ($4.00) dollars per hour. An additional two dollars ($2) per hour will be paid for all hours of standby assigned by the Employer beyond seventy-five (75) hours in a pay period. Standby pay shall be paid for actual hours on standby prior to reporting for duty. Standby pay shall not be paid when the nurse is receiving the four (4) hour minimum callback guarantee, even though the nurse has returned to standby status.
Standby Pay. Employees who, as part of the duties of their positions, are assigned in writing by the Chief of the Department or designee, to standby service while off duty to be instantly available shall have a paging device or cell phone made available to use during the period of standby service. Such employees shall be paid an amount equivalent to two (2) hours of their regular rate of pay for each assignment on a regularly scheduled work day, and three (3) hours of their regular rate of pay for each assignment on a regularly scheduled day off.
Standby Pay. When a regular full-time employee is required and assigned to be available for immediate emergency call-back at times that the employee is not otherwise on duty, the employee shall be compensated for such standby hours at two (2) hours straight time pay or equivalent time off for each eight (8) hours of assigned standby time.
Standby Pay. Standby duty shall mean any period of not more than eight (8) hours during which time an employee is not on regular duty but has been assigned standby duty and must be available to respond to any request to return to duty. This shall include, but not be limited to, those employees scheduled to be on call the manager or supervisor and assigned to carry a pager, cellular phone, or laptop computer as a result of the standby duty assignment. Employees who are assigned to standby shall be credited with one (1) hour to their averaging total for each period of assigned standby. Eg: For each eight hour period, or portion thereof, on standby: 1 hour credited to their averaging total.
Standby Pay. (a) Where the Employer requires an employee to be available on standby during the off-duty hours, an employee shall be entitled to a standby pay equal to one hour for each eight (8) consecutive hours, or portion thereof, that he/she is on standby, except on his/her day of rest and designated paid holiday. For any period of standby on a day of rest or designated paid holiday, the employee shall be entitled to standby pay equal to three hours.
(i) In lieu of standby pay specified in Article 26.01(a) and overtime pay specified in Articles 22 and 26 for regular plant checks, Superintendents, Operators and/or Assistant Operators shall be paid a daily allowance of one (1) hour pay at their regular rate of pay for each day a plant check is performed, payable bi- weekly.
(ii) Where operational requirements permit, these employees shall be entitled at their request and with prior approval of the Employer, to time off from performing standby. The employee must request a minimum of one day of relief from standby.
(iii) Plant Superintendents and Assistant Operators are required as a condition of employment to have a telephone installed at home and therefore the Employer will arrange to have telephones installed in the homes of the Plant Superintendents and the Assistant Operators and the Employer shall pay for the monthly charges. The telephones services shall be long distance restricted and designated for the business purposes of the Employer.
26.02 An employee designated by letter or by list for standby duty shall be available and fit for duty during the period of standby at a known telephone number or location and be available to return for duty as quickly as possible if called. In designating employees for standby, the Employer will endeavor to provide for the equitable distribution of standby duties.
26.03 No standby payments shall be granted if any employee is unable or unfit to report for duty when required.
26.04 An employee on standby who is required to report for work and who reports for work shall be paid in addition to standby pay, the greater of:
(a) the applicable overtime rate for the time worked; or
(b) the minimum of four (4) hours pay at the straight time rate, except that this minimum shall apply only the first time that an employee is required to report for work during a period of standby of eight (8) hours.
Standby Pay. Employees of the Office of Information Technology may be assigned to standby status by the University during off-hours and on designated weekends. Standby status will involve the following:
19.13.1 Employees will receive a minimum of seventy-two (72) hours notice of their assignment to standby status. Standby periods will be rotated among qualified, eligible staff within the business unit on an equitable basis. Absent exceptional circumstances, employees will not be required to serve in standby status more than seven (7) calendar days per month.
19.13.2 While on standby status, employees will be provided with a University cell phone, required to remain available for work-related calls and, if necessary, return to work.
19.13.3 Standby status will not be considered hours worked, and will not run concurrently with work time. While on standby status, employees will be paid a rate of three dollars ($3) per hour.
Standby Pay a. Employees (except those working at the Public Utilities Commission) who, as part of the duties of their positions are required by the Appointing Officer to standby when normally off duty to be instantly available on call for immediate emergency service for the performance of their regular duties, shall be paid twenty-five (25) percent of their regular straight time rate of pay for the period of such standby service, except that employees shall be paid ten (10) percent of their regular straight time rate of pay for the period of such standby service when outfitted by their department with an electronic communication device or cell phone. When such employees are called to perform their regular duties in emergencies during the period of such standby service, they shall be paid while engaged in such emergency service the usual rate of pay for such service as provided herein. However, standby pay shall not be allowed in classes whose duties are primarily administrative in nature.
b. STANDBY PAY FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION ONLY 193. Employees of the Public Utilities Commission (“PUC”) who, as part of the duties of their positions are required by the Appointing Officer to standby when normally off duty to be instantly available on call for immediate emergency service to perform their regular duties, shall be paid twenty (20%) percent of their regular straight time rate of pay for the period of such standby service. When such employees are called to perform their regular duties in emergencies during the period of such standby service, they shall be paid while engaged in such emergency service at the usual rate of pay for such service as provided herein. However, standby pay shall not be allowed in classes whose duties which are primarily administrative in nature.
Standby Pay. 41.1 Where the Council requires an employee to be available on either primary or backup standby during off-duty hours, that employee shall be entitled to a standby payment of one-half (1/2) hour’s pay, at the straight time rate, for each 4 hours or portion thereof of standby.
41.2 An employee designated for standby duty shall be available during his period of standby at a known telephone number and be able to return for duty as quickly as possible.
41.3 No standby payment shall be made if an employee is unable to report for duty when required.
41.4 An employee on standby who is called in to work and who reports for work shall be compensated in accordance with the Call-Back provisions of this Agreement.
Standby Pay. A department head, with the approval of the County Administrator, may designate employees in certain classes to be in a standby status. An employee who is on standby status must be at a location where the employee can be reached at all times and upon being called shall return to work immediately. An employee who is recalled to work shall be deemed to be off standby status and the employee shall not receive standby pay for the hours the employee is paid to work, whether on a straight time or overtime basis. Employees who perform standby duty shall be compensated at 20% of their regular hourly rate.
