Common use of Crewing Clause in Contracts

Crewing. a) Xxxxxxx shall remain as in effect during the last agreement unless vessels are taken out of operation, changed from watchkeeping to shift vessels, or vice-versa, reconverted or where there is mutual agreement to change between the Company and the Union. Vessels taken out of operations and returned to operations without change shall carry the same number of crew as when the vessel paid off. Where vessels are changed to watch-keeping or shift operations, or vice-versa, they shall carry the same number of crew as vessels of equal characteristics. If there are no such watchkeeping or shift vessels, whichever is the case, in service at the time of the change, the parties shall endeavour to reach agreement on crew size in accordance with the provisions of Section (b) of this Article. For the purpose of this Agreement, converted or reconverted vessels shall be classed as new vessels. For the purposes of this Agreement, the term "xxxxxxx scale" shall mean the number of Unlicensed Personnel on the vessel customarily carried in the area in which the vessel is operating.
