Criteria for Promotion to Professor. (Research Route) Promotion or appointment to a personal chair is one of the highest academic distinctions Conferred by the University and there must be unequivocal evidence of excellence in the candidate’s field. It should be based on past achievement and the expectation of continuing appropriate contribution at that level, including the capacity, and acceptance of the responsibility, for leadership of research within the University. Evidence of activity well beyond that at Reader level will be required. The areas where evidence should be considered include research output, esteem and reputation, research culture, leadership, and teaching that is informed by research. Particular emphasis is placed on leadership and research output over a sustained period. Output Original research and scholarship within the discipline, as evidenced by outputs as described in the RAE 2008 definition of research as: ‘Research’ for the purpose of the RAE is to be understood as original investigation undertaken in order to gain knowledge and understanding. It includes work of direct relevance to the needs of commerce, industry and to the public and voluntary sectors. Scholarship* – the invention and generation of ideas; images, performances, artefacts including design, where these lead to new or substantially improved insights; and the use of existing knowledge in experimental development to produce new or substantially improved materials, devices, products and processes, including design and construction. It excludes routine testing and routine analysis of materials, components and processes such as for the maintenance of national standards, as distinct from the development of new analytical techniques. It also excludes the development of teaching materials that do not embody original research. Esteem and reputation Externally recognised national and international reputation for research and scholarship, for example: • Invitations to chair or deliver keynote lectures at international conferences or equivalent. • Positions on/awards from national/international/professional bodies. • Sustained success at external funding from competitive sources. • Collaboration with other national and international HEI’s and organisations that are leading in the field. • Membership of research councils and bodies. • Editorial roles. • Organisation of international conferences. • Acceptance of work by international journals which undertake rigorous peer review. • External examination of PhD cand...

  • Scope of Professional Services 3.1 On the terms and conditions set forth in this Agreement, COUNTY hereby engages CONTRACTOR to provide all labor, materials and equipment to complete the Project/Service in accordance with the Scope of Services, attached hereto and incorporated herein as Attachment A, as modified or clarified by Addendum(s) # , dated , attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as Attachment B. The Employer shall establish the specifics of the programs through the Health Benefit Committee. This provision shall expire on June 30, 2015 unless mutually agreed otherwise by the parties. All approved vendors contracted with the health plan administrator shall be permitted to provide services on state premises for employees.
