Donor Leave. 36.1 Blood or Plasma Donation Subject to operational requirements, employees will be entitled to absent themselves from the workplace in order to donate blood or plasma in accordance with the following general conditions: (a) prior arrangements with the supervisor has been made and at least 2 days' notice has been provided; or (b) the employee is called upon by the Red Cross Blood Centre. 36.2 The notification period will be waived or reduced where the line manager is satisfied that operations would not be unduly affected by an employee's absence. 36.3 Employees will be required to provide proof of attendance at the Red Cross Blood Centre upon return to work. 36.4 Employees will be entitled to 2 hours of paid leave per donation for the purpose of donating blood or plasma to the Red Cross Blood Centre. 36.5 Organ or Tissue Donation (a) Subject to the production of appropriate evidence, an employee will be entitled to up to 6 weeks’ paid leave for the purpose of donating an organ or body tissue. (b) Provided that where this paid leave is not sufficient and upon the production of a medical certificate, an employee may access their accrued personal leave or other paid leave in order to cover their absence.
