Xxxx Leave. For laid off employees, sick leave accruals shall remain on the books and be reinstated if such employees are reappointed. Whenever a person becomes ineligible for reemployment, and such person has not been re-employed, then, if at the point of layoff such person was eligible to receive a sick leave accrual payoff, such person shall be paid for existing sick leave accruals in accordance with Section 1408 of this Agreement.
Xxxx Leave. 1. Sick leave shall be credited annually to each teacher on the first day of employment as follows: a. For the first year of service in the Center Grove Community School Corporation, ten (10) days; b. For each succeeding year of service in the Center Grove Community School Corporation, eight (8) days. 2. If a teacher takes approved “Lost Pay” (leave of absence) that teacher will not be eligible to receive the per diem rate for one day as prescribed in the chart. 3. When teachers accumulate 200 sick days, at the beginning of the next school year the teacher shall be credited eight (8) more sick days. However, at the end of that school year, the sick days shall not carry over. Therefore, the maximum amount of accumulated sick days will remain at 200. 4. A teacher’s accumulated sick leave days remain available for use during the teacher’s employment, but no further payment will be made to a retiring teacher for accumulated, unused sick leave. Upon resignation, a teacher’s unused sick leave will be transferred to a subsequent School Corporation when applicable, upon request. 5. Sick leave days accumulated by a teacher prior to a leave of absence authorized under this Agreement shall remain credited to the teacher provided the teacher returns in accordance with the terms and conditions of the leave of absence provisions of this Agreement. 6. Accumulated sick leave days as provided for in this Article of the Agreement may be used for: a. Personal and family illness.

Xxxx Leave. Sick leave is defined as personal illness or disability of the teacher or illness or death of a member of the immediate family. "Immediate family" shall be defined as a spouse, parent, child, brother, sister, grandparent, parent-in-law, other close relative, or any relative or dependent who resided with the teacher's household. Each member of the instructional staff employed on a full-time basis shall be entitled to four (4) days of sick leave as of the first day of employment of each contract year and shall thereafter earn one day of sick leave for each month of employment, which shall be credited to the member at the end of the month and which shall not be used prior to the time it is earned and credited to the member; provided, that the member shall be entitled to earn no more than one (1) day of sick leave times the number of months of employment during the year of employment; provided, that such leave shall be taken only when necessary because of sickness as herein prescribed. Such sick leave shall be cumulative from year to year, and provided further, there shall be no limit on the number of days of sick leave a member of the instructional staff may accrue. Summer school employees working full-time shall accumulate sick leave at the already established rate. The number of accrued sick leave days is provided and is available to each individual through the HR Portal program.
Xxxx Leave. Each teacher shall be granted ten (10) disability and emergency (sick) leave days at the commencement of each school year in which he is serving in an Empowerment Zone school as of the first day of said school year whether he reports for duty or not (subject to the provisions of paragraph B of this Article). In the event that a teacher uses four (4) or less disability and emergency (sick) leave days during the course of the school year (inclusive of any days charged to the accrued balance) they will be granted an additional five (5) disability and emergency (sick) leave days on the last day of the school year. Employees hired after the start of the school year shall receive a pro rata share of the ten (10) disability and emergency (sick) leave days and be eligible to earn the additional five (5) days. Unused disability and emergency (sick) leave days may be accumulated from year to year as long as the employee remains continuously in the service of Springfield Public Schools. Personal days will not count towards the four (4) disability and emergency leave days referenced above, provided that the employee completes a form with the rationale for the use of the personal day and that it is approved by the employee’s Principal. In the event that the Principal does not approve the rationale, the employee may appeal to the SEZP. Bereavement leave days, professional development, jury duty and graduation leave will not count towards the four (4) disability and emergency leave days referenced above. Unexcused absence will count toward the four (4) disability and emergency leave days referenced above. With prior approval from the principal, a teacher may use sick leave in one-hour increments, up to four hours, for scheduled medical appointments for themselves or for the teacher's minor- child, which cannot be scheduled outside the teachers' scheduled workday. When requesting such leave, the teacher must affirm that the appointment cannot be scheduled outside the teacher's workday. Before or after a partial sick leave day is approved, the principal may require the teacher to provide verification from the medical provider of the date and time of the scheduled appointment. Upon absence of more than three (3) consecutive days, the SEZP or its designee may require a certificate by a physician in order to qualify for continued disability and emergency benefits. Xxxx Leave. All employees covered by this Agreement and eligible for sick leave with pay shall be entitled to the use of sick leave as provided herein.
Xxxx Leave. 1. All ten month employees shall be entitled to ten (10) days of sick leave each school year. All twelve month employees shall be entitled to twelve (12) days of sick leave each year. Employees employed after September 30th will receive one (1) sick day per month of employment. Upon retirement in accordance with the provision of the Teachers’ Pension Annuity Fund or the Public Employees Retirement System, as relevant, ten month employees shall be paid two (2) full days’ pay calculated at the rate of one two-hundredth (1/200th) of their annual salary for every five (5) unused sick leave days and one (1) full day’s pay calculated at the rate of one two-hundredth (1/200th) of their annual salary for every five (5) accumulated personal leave days. b. Upon retirement in accordance with the provision of the Teachers’ Pension Annuity Fund or the Public Employees Retirement System, as relevant, 12 month employees shall be paid two (2) full days’ pay calculated at the rate of 1/240th of their annual salary for every five (5) unused sick leave days and one (1) full day’s pay calculated at the rate of 1/240th of their annual salary for every five (5) accumulated personal leave days. c. For all teachers and clerical employees hired after June 30, 1996, and for all maintenance, grounds and custodial employees hired on or after July 1, 2009, the payment for total unused sick and personal leave accrued is capped at a maximum of $15,000.00 upon retirement. d. Xxxx Leave. Unless otherwise provided in this Article, a faculty member on a paid leave shall be entitled to: 1. return to the same or comparable position which he/she held immediately before commencement of the leave, 2. receive credit for annual salary increments provided during his/her leave, 3. receive during his/her leave all other benefits, including, but not limited to, insurance and retirement benefits, to the extent permitted by law.
