Common use of Election to Public Office Clause in Contracts

Election to Public Office. The Employer recognizes the right of any employee to participate in public affairs. Upon written request, the Employer shall allow leave of absence without pay so that the employee may be a candidate in a federal or provincial election. Should the employee wish to continue benefits during this period, and should the master policy provide for this, he will be responsible to assume both the Employer and the employee’s share of the benefits cost.
