Employee Benefits While on Leave. a. An employee granted an unpaid leave of absence may elect to participate in the State Universities Retirement System during the period of the leave; the employee shall make all contributions. An employee may elect to participate in the College benefit program during the period of an unpaid leave; the employee shall make 100% contribution to all applicable benefits. b. During an unpaid family and medical leave, the College will maintain the employee's regularly provided health benefits and will continue the College's required contributions toward the cost of the health insurance premiums at the level and under the conditions coverage would be provided if the employee maintained continuous employment. If the employee does not return to work upon completion of the leave period, the College may recover those contributions made by the College to maintain the employee's health insurance benefits. c. An employee taking an unpaid leave of absence shall not suffer the loss of any employment benefit accrued prior to the date on which the leave commenced. During the unpaid leave period, an employee shall continue to accrue seniority.
