8.2.4. In order for a casual employee to qualify for unpaid parental leave under the AFPCS, they must be an eligible casual employee in accordance with Section 264 of the Act. ▪ A temporary fixed term/project employee Employee is an employee Employee engaged for a specific period, task or project. Such employees Employees shall be advised of their fixed period of engagement upon commencement of employment.
8.2.5. ▪ In addition to the above categories, employees Employees may be engaged as apprentices (as provided for elsewhere in this Agreement).
8.3. Casual conversion to full-time or part-time employment
8.3.1. A casual employee, other than an irregular casual employee, who has been engaged by a particular employer for a sequence of periods of employment under this award during a period of 6 months, thereafter has the right to elect to have their contract of employment converted to full-time or part-time employment if the employment is to continue beyond the conversion process.
8.3.2. For the purposes of the above clause (8.3.1), an irregular casual employee is one who has been engaged to perform work on an occasional or non-systematic or irregular basis.
8.3.3. The casual employee will receive notice in writing of the provisions within 4 weeks of the employee having attained such period of 6 months. The employee retains their right of election under clause (8.3.1) above if the employer fails to comply with the Clause.
8.3.4. Any such casual employee who does not within 4 weeks of receiving written notice elect to convert their contract of employment to full-time or part-time employment is deemed to have elected against any such conversion.
8.3.5. Any casual employee who has a right to elect under clause (8.3.1) above, on receiving notice under clause (8.3.3) or after the expiry of the time for giving such notice, may give 4 weeks’ notice in writing to the employer that they seek to elect to convert their contract of employment to full-time or part-time employment, and within 4 weeks of receiving such notice the employer must consent to or refuse the election but must not unreasonably refuse.
8.3.6. A casual employee must be engaged and paid for at least two consecutive hours of work on each occasion they are required to attend work.

A casual employee shall have no entitlement to paid personal/carer’s leave, payment for public holidays not worked or annual leave. In order for a casual employee to qualify for unpaid parental leave under the AFPCS, they must be an eligible casual employee in accordance with Section 264 of the Act. ▪ A temporary fixed term/project employee is an employee engaged for a specific period, task or project. Such employees shall be advised of their fixed period of engagement upon commencement of employment. ▪ In addition to the above categories, employees may be engaged as apprentices (as provided for elsewhere in this Agreement).
