Employee Requested Long Term Leave. ‌ After three (3) years’ continuous service, an employee may request an unpaid leave of absence to take educational courses relating to the delivery of health care subject to the following provisions: (a) The employee shall give the longest possible advance notice in writing. Where an employee requests an unpaid leave of absence in excess of four (4) calendar months, such employee shall make every effort to give six (6) calendar months’ advance notice in writing of such request. (b) Every effort shall be made by the Employer to comply with such requests, providing that replacements to ensure proper operation of the department can be found. (c) Notices granting such requests shall be given by the Employer in writing.
