Common use of Exchange Teaching Clause in Contracts

Exchange Teaching. ‌ A. A teacher may apply for exchange teaching assignment for a period not to exceed one (1) year in another state of the United States, another country, or a territory of either, following five (5) years of satisfactory service in the District, provided said teacher states his or her intent to return to the District for a minimum of one (1) year. B. Exchange leave with pay may be granted by the Board on recommendation of the Superintendent. C. A teacher being granted an exchange teaching leave of absence shall advance on the salary schedule as he or she would have advanced had he or she been employed in the District. D. Requests for a leave of absence for exchange teaching assignments shall be made by the end of the first semester for leave beginning the following September.
