Facilitation of Bridging Courses for Women Pursuing Advanced Degrees. During interviews for GRAIN’s Graduate Degree Scholarship Program, fundamental challenges for women became evident. Rather than being academically underqualified, they more commonly had insufficient work experience, poor English ability and lack of self-confidence. A recurring issue was also family resistance to allow female applicants to travel to India, which is the location of universities selected for Cohort 1 scholars. Following awarding the first round of scholarships, 11 women joined the Bridging Courses program. The application portal for Cohort 2 scholarships will open in January, and will enable more women to access an advanced degree because they will have the option to apply to study at Kabul University in the Masters in Agronomy program. GRAIN envisions that up to ten scholars will be placed at the University, therefore eliminating the requirement to travel outside Afghanistan, and also reducing the higher-level English proficiency requirements. Recent meetings with the WLD/Xxxxxx program discussing course availability, revealed a curriculum selection including English classes, and a variety of life skills and soft skills trainings to improve self-confidence and personal presentation. Classes are intended to improve critical thinking, problem solving, public speaking, leadership, and to develop more effective overall communication capabilities. Each course duration is 12 weeks, requiring attendance three days each week for four hour sessions, and conducted in Herat, Balkh, Nangarhar and Kabul, which will conveniently serve the eleven women in the Bridging Courses program. In collaboration with WLD, and through GRAIN’s Gender Unit, outreach was provided to the eleven women in the Bridging Courses program verbally and/or through email, during November and early December. In identifying courses that most appealed them, the Gender Advisor also referenced supplemental information compiled on each individual (noting strengths and weaknesses), during the scholarship interview process last program year. WLD/Jawana applications were distributed for various courses, with GRAIN teams providing coordination for submission during the final week of December. Three women participating in the Bridging courses program decided to apply for WLD/Jawana course, with others citing timing conflicts to their schedules. While scholarships awarded last year through GRAIN’s Graduate Degree Scholarships Program were to India, cohort 2 this year includes opportunities to apply for the Master’s in Agronomy at KU. This bridging course activity comprises 11 women who were shortlisted last year but not selected for the first scholars’ cohort, yet demonstrated a desire to apply again. Separate from GRAIN’s mentees who also applied for scholarships, three of these women submitted applications this year, of which two were assessed as eligible, and will take the entrance exam in July.   • VISIBILITY OF FUNDING FROM THE OFFICIAL DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE Unless the SAIDC requests or agrees otherwise, any communication or publication made by the Final Beneficiary that relates to the action, including at conferences, seminars or in any information or promotional materials (such as brochures, leaflets, posters, presentations in electronic form, etc.), including tangible assets acquired from the project must: (a) indicate that the action has received funding from the Official Development Assistance, SlovakAid and (b) display the SlovakAid logo. When displayed in association with another logo, the SlovakAid logo must have appropriate prominence. The obligation to display the SlovakAid logo does not confer on the Final Beneficiary a right of exclusive use. The Final Beneficiary may not appropriate the SlovakAid logo or any similar trademark or logo, either by registration or by any other means. For the purposes of the first, second and third subparagraphs and under the conditions specified therein, the Final Beneficiary may use the SlovakAid logo without first obtaining permission from the SAIDC.

  • Grievance on Layoffs and Recalls Grievances concerning layoffs and recalls shall be initiated at Step 2 of the grievance procedure.

  • Non-discrimination Based on National Origin as evidenced by Limited English Proficiency The Contractor agrees to comply with the non-discrimination requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 USC Section 2000d, et seq., and with the federal guidelines promulgated pursuant to Executive Order 13166 of 2000, which require that contractors and subcontractors receiving federal funds must assure that persons with limited English proficiency can meaningfully access services. To the extent the Contractor provides assistance to individuals with limited English proficiency through the use of oral or written translation or interpretive services in compliance with this requirement, such individuals cannot be required to pay for such services.

  • Program Requirements Provided At No Charge to the Judicial Council A. The Contractor shall provide the following items during the Program at no charge to the Judicial Council:

  • GRIEVANCE PROCESS RIGHTS No grievant shall lose his/her right to process his/her grievance because of Management-imposed limitations in scheduling meetings.

  • Limitation of Vendor Indemnification and Similar Clauses This is a requirement of the TIPS Contract and is non-negotiable TIPS, a department of Region 8 Education Service Center, a political subdivision, and local government entity of the State of Texas, is prohibited from indemnifying third-parties (pursuant to the Article 3, Section 52 of the Texas Constitution) except as otherwise specifically provided for by law or as ordered by a court of competent jurisdiction. Article 3, Section 52 of the Texas Constitution states that "no debt shall be created by or on behalf of the State … " and the Texas Attorney General has opined that a contractually imposed obligation of indemnity creates a "debt" in the constitutional sense. Tex. Att'y Gen. Op. No. MW-475 (1982). Thus, contract clauses which require TIPS to indemnify Vendor, pay liquidated damages, pay attorney's fees, waive Vendor's liability, or waive any applicable statute of limitations must be deleted or qualified with ''to the extent permitted by the Constitution and Laws of the State of Texas." Does Vendor agree? Yes, I Agree Alternative Dispute Resolution Limitations This is a requirement of the TIPS Contract and is non-negotiable. TIPS, a department of Region 8 Education Service Center, a political subdivision, and local government entity of the State of Texas, does not agree to binding arbitration as a remedy to dispute and no such provision shall be permitted in this Agreement with TIPS. Vendor agrees that any claim arising out of or related to this Agreement, except those specifically and expressly waived or negotiated within this Agreement, may be subject to non-binding mediation at the request of either party to be conducted by a mutually agreed upon mediator as prerequisite to the filing of any lawsuit arising out of or related to this Agreement. Mediation shall be held in either Camp or Titus County, Texas. Agreements reached in mediation will be subject to the approval by the Region 8 ESC's Board of Directors, authorized signature of the Parties if approved by the Board of Directors, and, once approved by the Board of Directors and properly signed, shall thereafter be enforceable as provided by the laws of the State of Texas. Vendor agrees that nothing in this Agreement shall be construed as a waiver of sovereign or government immunity; nor constitute or be construed as a waiver of any of the privileges, rights, defenses, remedies, or immunities available to Region 8 Education Service Center or its TIPS Department. The failure to enforce, or any delay in the enforcement, of any privileges, rights, defenses, remedies, or immunities available to Region 8 Education Service Center or its TIPS Department under this Agreement or under applicable law shall not constitute a waiver of such privileges, rights, defenses, remedies, or immunities or be considered as a basis for estoppel. 5 Does Vendor agree? Yes, Vendor agrees Payment Terms and Funding Out Clause This is a requirement of the TIPS Contract and is non-negotiable. Vendor agrees that TIPS and TIPS Members shall not be liable for interest or late-payment fees on past-due balances at a rate higher than permitted by the laws or regulations of the jurisdiction of the TIPS Member. Funding-Out Clause: Vendor agrees to abide by the applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to Texas Local Government Code § 271.903, or any other statutory or regulatory limitation of the jurisdiction of any TIPS Member, which requires that contracts approved by TIPS or a TIPS Member are subject to the budgeting and appropriation of currently available funds by the entity or its governing body. 2

  • Invoicing for Charges Against the Judicial Council’s Master Account A. The Contractor shall establish a Master Account for the Judicial Council’s charges provided for under the exhibits of this Agreement.

  • Assistance in Litigation or Administrative Proceedings Covered Entity shall provide written notice to Business Associate if litigation or administrative proceeding is commenced against Covered Entity, its directors, officers, or employees, based on a claimed violation by Business Associate of HIPAA, the HIPAA Rules or other laws relating to security and privacy or PHI. Upon receipt of such notice and to the extent requested by Covered Entity, Business Associate shall, and shall cause its employees, Subcontractors, or agents assisting Business Associate in the performance of its obligations under the Contract to, assist Covered Entity in the defense of such litigation or proceedings. Business Associate shall, and shall cause its employees, Subcontractor’s and agents to, provide assistance, to Covered Entity, which may include testifying as a witness at such proceedings. Business Associate or any of its employees, Subcontractors or agents shall not be required to provide such assistance if Business Associate is a named adverse party.

  • Legal Action; Utilization of Special Receivership Powers The Assuming Institution shall notify the Receiver in writing (such notice to be given in accordance with Article V below and to include all relevant details) prior to utilizing in any legal action any special legal power or right which the Assuming Institution derives as a result of having acquired an asset from the Receiver, and the Assuming Institution shall not utilize any such power unless the Receiver shall have consented in writing to the proposed usage. The Receiver shall have the right to direct such proposed usage by the Assuming Institution and the Assuming Institution shall comply in all respects with such direction. Upon request of the Receiver, the Assuming Institution will advise the Receiver as to the status of any such legal action. The Assuming Institution shall immediately notify the Receiver of any judgment in litigation involving any of the aforesaid special powers or rights.

  • DEVELOPMENT OR ASSISTANCE IN DEVELOPMENT OF SPECIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS/ STATEMENTS OF WORK Firms and/or individuals that assisted in the development or drafting of the specifications, requirements, statements of work, or solicitation documents contained herein are excluded from competing for this solicitation. This shall not be applicable to firms and/or individuals providing responses to a publicly posted Request for Information (RFI) associated with a solicitation.
