Filing a Formal Grievance. 14.5.1 A grievance is initiated by the filing of a Notice of Grievance on the prescribed notice form (included in Appendix H). 14.5.2 The grievance must be filed within 30 working days after the grievant discovered or reasonably could have discovered the circumstances or action giving rise to the grievance. The attempts at informal resolution required by Section 14.4 do not extend the 30 working day period. 14.5.3 The Notice of Grievance must be filed with the Chief of Police and the Director of Human Resources. If the member is initiating the grievance directly, a copy of the grievance must also be provided to POA. Failure to file the grievance with the required parties within the time limit of Subsection 14.5.2 will invalidate the filing of the grievance.
