Common use of Fixed Term Employees Clause in Contracts

Fixed Term Employees. (a) Except as outlined below a fixed term employee shall be regarded as permanent for the operation of the terms of this agreement when: (i) The appointment is for more than one year; or (ii) Each period of fixed term service within a single 12 month period adds up to one year's service. (b) The provisions for fixed term employees employed for less than a year, will be the same as for permanent employees or as specified in the appropriate clause or section. (c) If a fixed term employee is working in place of a permanent employee, the fixed term employee will be advised that the period of employment is dependent on the notification of the date of return of the permanent employee. (d) Transfer and travel expenses in taking up the position shall be as for other employees i.e. by negotiation and agreement between the employer and employee or agent including assistance to and/or from the location. (e) Expenses incurred in the carrying out of official business shall be as for other employees i.e. reimbursement on an actual and reasonable basis.
