Common use of Health and Welfare Committee Clause in Contracts

Health and Welfare Committee. The City hereby agrees to maintain a joint labor-management Health and Welfare Committee. This Committee shall meet on an annual basis or as required, on City time, for discussion of health and welfare issues of mutual concern. The Unions shall name one (1) member and one (1) alternate. Other members are appointed by the City and other bargaining units. The Committee will research increasing health care costs, as well as plan design and potential options for health care program delivery in an effort to control health care costs in a manner mutually beneficial to employees and the City. The Committee will have the authority to recommend changes to the plans offered by the City. The City will work with a third-party benefits broker to evaluate feasibility of the recommendations and report back to the Committee. The City recognizes the recommended changes may require ratification by the members. The union will take an active role in promoting and educating its members in prudent health care use.
