Common use of Holiday Pay Eligibility Clause in Contracts

Holiday Pay Eligibility. For each of the foregoing holidays, an employee will receive eight (8) hours' pay at his regular rate whether or not he is scheduled to work on said holiday; provided, however, that in order to qualify for holiday pay the employee must work as scheduled on his last scheduled day before the holiday is observed and his first scheduled day after the holiday is observed, unless excused; and provided further, that if he is scheduled to work on the holiday but fails to report, he will not receive his holiday pay unless his absence has been excused by the Employer.
