Hours of employment for part-time employees shall be assigned by the Superintendent. E. Reasonable release time shall be provided for Association representatives to meet and negotiate and to process grievances. When Association representatives perform these duties outside of the 185 contracted work days, those representatives of the Association will be granted one compensatory day for each day in which business between the Association and the District is conducted, for a maximum of six KUTA members. Compensatory days must be taken by June 30 of the school year in which they are granted. Unused compensatory days will be forfeited after June 30 of each year. F. The dismissal time and number of minimum days will be fairly applied at all sites within the District. HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT. A. The onhours of employment of the District's full-site work day for time bargaining unit members shall be sufficient to meet their professional duties. The teacher shall cooperate with the site administrators to see that any after-class supervision needs are covered on an equitable basis. C. All bargaining unit employees are entitled to a thirty (30) minute duty-free lunch. D. During the hours of employment, an employee shall remain on the school premises unless permission to leave has required that they return to school to serve at an extra-curricular activity. HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT. A preparation period is considered a relief period. 6.6 The lunch period unit member shall attend one faculty meeting each week if scheduled by the principal, and the employee shall be provided with an agenda prior to such meetings. Unit members may be permitted to place items on the agenda. One (1) day per week, unit members shall be required to attend until 4:45 p.m. if a meeting is called. These meetings may include minimum day in-service, faculty meetings and other meetings as prescribed by the administrator in charge. The employee has the obligation to participate in meetings pertinent to but not limited to, parent-teacher conferences, principal–teacher conferences, 504 meetings, IEP meetings, and curriculum work. 6.10 During the hours of employment, employees shall perform those duties normally associated with certificated employees as assigned by the principal. To the extent possible, each site administratorwill set aside one or more days per month for IEP meetings. Preparation periods Certificated staff will be released from class during contract time to attend such meetings. Every effort will be made to schedule IEP meetings and 504 meetings during the school day. However, if parent, teacher, or service provider scheduling requires an after school meeting, a seven (7) calendar day advance notice will be given to all participants in the absence of exigent circumstances. 6.11 Certificated staff will be released from class during contract time to attend such meetings. There shall be duty freea minimum day one (1) day per week to allow time after students are dismissed for working on such topics as planning, professional growth, curriculum planning and scheduling. For safety reasons, unit members shall notify site administration/designee prior to leaving campus as needed during the preparation period. 4.3.1 The work day for unit members on Salary Schedules D, F, and G of Appendix A shall be 420 minutes, exclusive of 35 minutes for a duty-free lunch. 4.3.2 On exam and minimum days, a student lunch period shall be no less than twenty (20) minutes during the instructional day and teachers will concurrently use the time as a duty-free break. There shall be a total of seven (7) minimum days per calendar year: one (1) in recognition of the Day of the Teacher, two (2) in exchange for Open House and Back to School Night, and two (2) each at the conclusion of each semester to be designated as Final Exam Days. 4.3.3 Each school site administratorshall hold a Back to School Night during the first semester and an Open House Night during the second semester. Preparation periods At the discretion of the Principal, a site may hold an alternate event (such as a Department Night) in lieu of a Back to School Night or an Open House Night. 4.3.3.1 The events shall occur within the first eight (8) weeks of each semester, and the duration of each event shall be duty freeno more than 90 minutes. 4.3.3.2 The dates for both events shall be scheduled and announced no later than the first day of the school year. H. Each full-time secondary teacher shall receive a prep period. I. The number District will strive to maintain preparation time for teachers in grades K-5. J. Calculation of minimum days part-time teacher’s salary shall be based on the equivalent full time teacher’s teaching load. HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT. A. The high school teachers shall have time set-aside no more than six (6) periods of student contact per day plus one (1) period for preparation and planning. Teachers in grades TK-5 shall be entitled to at least a thirty minute daily prep period. Teachers in grades 6-8 and 9-12 shall be entitled to preparation periods equal to one class period as long as all grades are located on the same campus/site and have the same instructional minutes. If the sixth grade is returned to an elementary configuration (example 4-5-6), teachers shall be entitled to the same preparation period offered teachers in grades 4 and 5. Scheduling of preparation time shall be the responsibility of the site administrator. Preparation periods shall be duty free. Employees will not be requested by site administrators or by other staff to "cover" other classes during their preparation period. Employees may volunteer to cover classes during prep periods for teachers who need to be absent for a portion of the day to fulfill extra-duty assignments. D. Hours of employment for part-time employees shall be assigned by the Superintendent. E. Reasonable release time shall be provided for Association representatives to meet and negotiate and to process grievances. When Association representatives perform these duties outside of the 185 contracted work days, those representatives of the Association will be granted one compensatory day for each day in which business between the Association and the District is conducted, for a maximum of six KUTA members. Compensatory days must be taken by June 30 of the school year in which they are granted. Unused compensatory days will be forfeited after June 30 of each year. F. The dismissal time middle school teachers shall have no more than six (6) periods of student contact per day plus one (1) period for preparation and number planning. G. Teachers in grades 7-12 that teach academic subjects (i.e., English, social studies, math, science, and foreign language) will not have more than four (4) different academic preparations in the schedule unless mutually agreed upon. H. The period for preparation and planning for secondary teachers shall not be the same period for all the teachers unless changed by mutual agreement of minimum both parties to the contract. I. The period for preparation and planning for Middle School teachers may be the same period for all the teachers. J. Teachers assigned a Special Education caseload may be released up to 4 days will be fairly applied at all sites within each year to work with the DistrictESS staff on IEP's and other management and instructional issues. The number release time must be requested by the teacher and with the approval of minimum days will the Director of Special Education in concurrence with the site principal. K. The instructional school day (starting and dismissal times for students) shall be not less than 9 daysset by the Board of Trustees for regular, minimum, and shall include the days listed in Article V, Paragraph B as part of the nine minimum inclement days. G. The hours of employment for teachers 1. Minimum days shall include fall at the following times: a. Schools on traditional calendars: the last day of school in June, the day before Christmas vacation and one (1) other day to be established when the calendar is negotiated. b. Schools on year-round schedules will have a minimum number day at the end of instructional minutes which shall be offered to the students and shall continue to comply with the longer day, longer year provisions of California Education Code §46201:each twelve-
