Where the selected applicant possesses education and/or experience which exceeds the minimum requirements for the classification, the Chief Executive Officer may approve an in-hiring salary adjustment up- in-the-range. The Union will be notified in writing. For up-in-the-range appointments, the Chief Executive Officer will, in circumstances where another employee may be affected, post the salary step, and an outline of the education and experience of the person appointed. Any employee in the same class who is being paid at a rate lower in the range and who believes they possess education and experience equivalent to the person appointed above the minimum, may, with 30 calendar days of such publication, request that the Employer review their education, experience and salary. If, as a result of the review, a salary adjustment is warranted, the Chief Executive Officer shall so authorize effective the date of the original appointment of the up-in-the-range hire.
