Common use of Inclement Weather/Emergency School Closing Clause in Contracts

Inclement Weather/Emergency School Closing. If the entire District is closed due to inclement weather or emergency closing, Employees in this Division that are actively employed at the time the first three (3) days occur, shall not be required to report to work and shall be paid for the days. If the supervisor requires an Employee to report, the Employee’s paid leave bank or vacation bank will be credited with an additional day. In the event the District is closed beyond three (3) days and make up of lost instructional time (student report or required professional development) does not equal the number of days the District is closed, Employees in this Division shall be able to deduct a day from their paid leave bank during the pay period in which school is closed. Secretaries may be allowed to work from home during closing days beyond the three (3) days with principal/supervisor permission. In the event it becomes necessary for the District to send Employees in this Division home because of a bomb threat or other school closing that does not affect the entire District, the Employees that are sent home will be paid for the balance of their regular hours. Those that are notified by administration not to report will also receive their regular hours. If circumstances permit, the District may reassign the Employees to another location in lieu of sending them home or i f they have not yet reported, direct them to report to an alternate location.
