Increase on Promotion. In the event an employee is promoted to a higher paying classification, he shall be placed initially in that step of the new classification which provides an increase in pay over the wage rate paid him in his previous classification, and shall progress to the top rate of the new classification according to the time periods listed for such new classifications.

Increase on Promotion. Where an employee is to a higher classified position level, the employee's current salary shall increase to the nearest step value in the higher classified position which would result in an increase no less than the value of one step in the lower classified position. In no case shall an employee receive a salary which is less than the minimum step or more than the maximum step of the higher classified position. Promotional increments shall not affect the right of the employee to receive her normal annual increment. Rate After Three Where an employee in one classification is required to perform the duties and responsibilities of a higher class for a period in excess of three (3) consecutive working days, the employee shall be paid at the rate of pay for the position in which the employee is temporarily relieving.
