Common use of Jury and Witness Duty Clause in Contracts

Jury and Witness Duty. If an employee is required to serve as a juror in any court of law, or is required to attend as a witness in a court proceeding in which the Crown is a party, or is required by subpoena to attend a court of law or coroner's inquest in connection with a case arising from the Employee's duties at the nursing Employer, the employee shall not lose regular pay because of such attendance, including the selection and all preliminary processes, provided that the employee: (a) notifies the Employer immediately on the employee's notification that she will be required to attend at court; (b) presents proof of service requiring the employee's attendance; and (c) deposits with the Employer the full amount of compensation received, excluding mileage, travelling and meal allowance, and an official receipt thereof.
