Leave for Association Business. The Hospital agrees to grant leaves of absence, without pay, to nurses selected by the Association to attend Association business including conferences, conventions and Provincial Committee meetings. A nurse who notifies the Hospital as soon as possiblefollow- ing a bereavement shall be ranted three (3)consecutive work- ing days off without loss regular pay for her scheduled hours, in with the day of the funeral of a member of her immediatefamily. "immediate family" means parent, brother, sister, xxxxxx, son, daughter, son-in-law, daughter- in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in- law, randparent or grandchild. Where a nurse does not under the above-noted conditions, the Hospital ma grant a paid bereavement leave. The in its discretion, may extend such leave with or without pay.

The Hospital HealthCentre agrees to grant leaves of absence, without pay, to nurses selected by the Association to attend Association business including conferences, conventions and Provincial Committee meetingsmeetings and to any nurse elected to the position of Local Co-ordinator. The cumulative total leave of absence, the amount of notice, the number of nurses that may be absent at any one time and from any one area and the number of days set out in Appendix During such leave of absence, the a nurse's salary and applicable benefits or percentage in lieu of fringe benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital Health Centre and the local Association agrees to reimburse the Hospital HealthCentre in the amount of the daily rate of the full-time nurse or in the amount of the full cost of such salary and percentage in lieu of fringe benefitsof a part-time nurse except for Provincial Committee meetings which will be reimbursed by the Association. The Hospital Health Centre will bill the local Association within a reasonable period of time. Part-timenurses will receive service and for all leaves granted under this Article. Leaves of absence granted in accordance with a) above shall be pursuant to the following provisions: Adequate notice of at least two (2) weeks is given to the Health Centre. Not more than five (5) employees shall be allowed such leave, understandingthat no more than two (2) employeesfrom one (1) unit will be allowed such leave. The total number of days in any one (1) calendar year for such leave for all employees shall not exceed fifty (50) days. Should a nurse become the Local Co-ordinator as referred to in (a) an additional fifty (50) days without pay will be granted to this individual to fulfil the duties of the position. Reasonable notice sufficient to adequately allow the Hospital to minimize disruption of its services shall be given to the Hospital for such Leave leave of absence. Notwithstanding Article there shall be no loss of seniority ox or service during such leave of absence. Leave of absence under this provision shall be in addition to the Association leave provided in Article above. During such leave of absence, the nurse's ’s salary and applicable benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital and the Association agrees to reimburse the Hospital the amount of the full cost of such salary and applicable benefits benefits. Upon application in writing by the Association on behalf of the nurse to the Hospital, a leave of absence shall,shall be granted to such nurse elected to the office of President of the Ontario Association for a period of three up to two (32) consecutive years. Notwithstanding Article there shall be no loss of service or seniority during such leave of absence. During such leave of absence, the nurse‘s salary and applicable benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital and the Association agrees to reimburse the Hospital in the amount of the full cost of such salary and applicable benefits. It is understood, however, that during such leave the nurse shall be deemed to be an employee of the Ontario Nurses' Association. The nurse agrees to notify the Hospital of her intention to return to work at least two (2) weeks prior to the date of such return.
