Leave for Taking Training Courses. (i) An employee shall be granted leave without loss of their regular rate of pay when authorized by the Employer to attend a course during their shift. (ii) An employee authorized by the Employer to attend a technical training course or a seminar on a scheduled day of rest or after their shift shall receive time-off work at their regular rate of pay equivalent to the time spent at the training course. The employee shall receive one hour of time off work for each hour of instruction. The time off work shall be scheduled by mutual agreement of the employee and the Employer. (iii) Travel time shall only be paid if the course is beyond the Greater Victoria area. Travel time to and from the location of the course outside an employee’s normal hours of work shall be compensated up to a maximum of three (3) hours to the course and three (3) hours from the course at the regular rate of pay to be taken in pay or time off. Any time off work shall be scheduled by mutual agreement of the employee and the Employer.
