Common use of Leave for Union Duties Clause in Contracts

Leave for Union Duties. It is agreed that the official representatives of the Union may be granted leave of absence without pay, to attend Union Conventions or perform any other function on behalf of the Union and its affiliation, provided not more than four (4) Union representatives shall be away at any one time and provided the prior approval of the Library has been obtained. Such leave of absence shall not affect the employee's seniority and/or benefits contained in this Agreement. It is agreed that any employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union or any body with which the Union is affiliated, may be granted leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority by the Library for a period up to one (1) year and may be renewed each year on request during their term of office.
