Life Saving Rules. Due to the importance to safe life’s and apparatus of Eskom it is recommended that if a contractor abuse any Life Saving Rules, all work allocated to the contractor will immediately put on hold until final outcome with investigation. Safety is the combined responsibility of the team and therefore team leader or team will be punished together. There are five Life Saving Rules rules that may not be broken by the Team Leader and his/her team. The five Eskom Life Saving Rules are as follows: Rule 1:*Open, isolated, tests, earth, and bond and/or insulate before touch* Rule 2:*Hook up at height* Rule 3:*Buckle Up* Rule 4*Be Sober* Rule 5:*Ensure that you have a permit to work*
Life Saving Rules. ⚫ No consumption or being under the influence of alcohol or drugs ⚫ No smoking outside dedicated areas ⚫ No work on live equipment/machines to commence without proper authorizationSafety critical devices/interlocks shall not be disabled or overridden without authorization ⚫ Persons working at height must use proper fall protectionNo entry to confined space without proper authorization and gas test ⚫ No person to enter a defined danger zone where objects can fall without proper authorization (hereinafter, individually, “Life Saving Rule”).
Life Saving Rules. The Contractor will ensure: (i) training of Contractor Personnel in the following, as applicable; and (ii) compliance with the applicable life saving rules by all persons within the Contractor’s Work Area, as part of the Site Safety Management Plan: (a) limits of approach (LOA) will be maintained as required by BC Hydro’s SPRs; (b) ensure there is a safety protection guarantee or lock out in place and check that it is appropriate for the Work being undertaken; (c) test for hazardous energy; (d) ensure that worker protection grounding/bonding is applied; (e) use fall protection when working at heights; (f) maintain a safe atmosphere in a confined space and ensure each worker can be rescued; (g) prevent harmful exposure to known carcinogens, toxins and bio-hazards; (h) no work will be undertaken under the influence of alcohol or drugs; and (i) adjust driving performance to the weather and road conditions.
