Lines of Progression. a) In each department concerned, the Company shall post lines of progression. b) The Company shall advise the Union and take into consideration any objections the Union might express before any change is made in a line of progression. The Company also agrees to advise the Union and discuss any objections before any employees are transferred or reclassified as a result of a change in a line of progression. The Union will be notified at least twenty (20) working days before the change occurs. c) Changes in a line of progression shall not be made in an unjust or discriminatory manner. d) Further to Clause 6.01(b) and (c) above an employee transferred or reclassified as a result of the Company changing a line of progression shall have the right to process a grievance concerning the justness and fairness of his transfer or reclassification. Such grievance shall be entered in writing at Step 2 of the Grievance Procedure. Should a satisfactory settlement not be reached such grievance may then become the subject of an arbitration case. e) Employees may be transferred out of a line of progression if they are unwilling to accept a promotion within that line. This provision shall only be used if the number of employees involved is such that it interferes with training employees for further progression to jobs required for the work available. Subject to the above conditions an employee may remain at his present classification on the understanding that he will be by-passed by a junior employee in the line of progression.
