Loss of Driver’s License. 29.01 An employee who requires a driver’s license to perform the duties of his job and who loses his license and is therefore unable to perform his duties, may be laid off until the license is reinstated provided such loss is not for a period in excess of six (6) months. 29.02 The Company will attempt to accommodate an employee who loses his license as set forth above, wherever practical, with the full co-operation of the bargaining unit members to assist an individual to perform those portions of his job which require the driver’s license. Management undertakes to co-operate in whatever way practical to make this accommodation process workable. 29.03 Prior to the above layoff, both parties agree to meet to discuss the possibilities at attempting to maintain the employee at work. 29.04 In the event of a failure to agree on accommodation, Management’s decision shall govern. 29.05 The above provisions shall apply on a one-time basis only for employees with more than one year’s seniority and shall be for a period not to exceed six (6) months. 29.06 Employees who require a driver’s license to perform the duties of his job and who lose their driver’s license shall immediately notify the Company of such loss. Failure to do so will result in discipline.
