Common use of Meal/Rest Period Clause in Contracts

Meal/Rest Period. The Employer will continue the practice of seeking to provide nurses with meal and break periods as follows: Nurses who work a minimum of six (6) hours or more will be provided an unpaid meal period of one-half (1/2) hour during their shift. Nurses required by the Employer to remain on duty during their meal period shall be compensated for such time at the appropriate rate of pay. Nurses who work a minimum of four (4) hours will be provided a paid rest period of fifteen (15) minutes for each four (4) hours of work. Meal and rest periods cannot be combined, used to leave work early, or accumulated from one day to another.
