Membership and Dues. Section 3.1 – The authorization to check-off and deduct Union membership dues is strictly a matter of voluntary choice of the individual employee. Upon the receipt of a written authorization from an employee, and to the extent permitted by law, the employer shall deduct from the employee’s wages an amount equal to monthly union membership dues which shall be deducted in a fixed amount each pay period, regardless of the employee’s membership status, and remitted to the Union. Once authorized, payroll check-off shall be irrevocable for a period of one year and automatically renewed each year thereafter, except that authorization may be withdrawn by sending of a written notice to the Union and the Employer by first class or registered mail during the period of fifteen (15) days immediately prior to the succeeding the annual anniversary date of the contract (June 15 through June 30).
