MENTORING AGREEMENT. The mentoring contract brings together the mentor, the new teacher and the principal and spells out each person’s responsibilities. When each person’s responsibilities are faithfully discharged, the students’ education will be substantially enhanced. In addition, the experienced professionals, the mentor and the principal, make it clear that the new teacher is a colleague, and that collegial relationship strengthens the education of the new teacher’s students. The mentor and the novice teacher xxxxxx agree:  To develop a professional and collegial working relationship by discussion of expectations and by arriving at a mutual understanding about how to work together effectively.  To keep all shared information and discussions confidential. The mentor xxxxxx agrees:  To review the background of the novice teacher to provide the type and amount of support indicated by this background.  To attend the new teacher’s classes regularly and provide the new teacher with feedback, coaching and support.  To be available for informal support and consultation. MENTORING AGREEMENT. In compliance with Parts 80-3 and 100.2 of Commissioners Regulations and in an effort to ensure the success of beginning teachers at West Canada Valley Central School, first year teachers will be assigned an approved mentor who will guide them in accordance with the provisions below. A Teacher Mentor Committee will review the “Teacher Mentor Program” on an annual basis.
