Teacher Mentor Program. If a formal teacher mentor program is maintained by the District, teachers who have completed a mentor training program can be selected to act as mentors and will be paid $250.00 for each mentee to which they are assigned by the district.
Teacher Mentor Program. A. For the first three (3) years of his/her employment in classroom teaching, a teacher will be assigned a master teacher(s) who will serve as mentor to the new teacher.
B. Recognizing the special needs of probationary teachers in becoming oriented to the teaching profession and to the School District, and to improve the quality of instruction, the School District commits to establishing a mentor teacher program. The duties of mentor teachers shall include, but are not limited to, assisting, observing and counseling the probationary teacher for the purpose of acclimating the probationary teacher to the teaching profession and to the District.
C. The Board reserves the right to unilaterally appoint persons to serve as master or mentor teachers for all purposes for which such persons are required by law. Such individuals may be appointed from either inside or outside the bargaining unit, as deemed appropriate by the Board. Provided, however, that the Board shall give good faith and reasonable consideration to an internal applicant from within the tenured teaching staff who meet the qualification standards which may be established by the Administration.
D. Minimum requirements for applicants for mentor teaching positions shall include successful prior teaching experience, familiarity with current educational philosophies of instruction and genuine willingness to work cooperatively with any District Administrator(s) responsible for supervision of the probationary teacher. Mentor teacher pay is per Appendix B, Extra Duty Assignment Schedule.
E. No member of the bargaining unit shall be involuntarily assigned to serve as a mentor teacher.
F. Any member of the bargaining unit that is appointed as a mentor teacher shall be provided with release time, if necessary, for training as a mentor to be scheduled during his/her regular duty hours.
G. The district shall promptly notify the Association when a mentor teacher is matched with his/her mentee.
H. When a bargaining unit member serves as a mentor, reasonable effort will be made to match mentors and mentees who work in the same building and have the same area of certification.
Teacher Mentor Program. 55 At the start of the year, CEA and CSD will establish a mutually agreed-upon number of mentor 56 teachers and will jointly select said mentors to help assist new teachers (as defined by the BEST 57 program). By mutual agreement a mentor may also be assigned to any other teacher who may 58 believe that they need additional assistance. Each mentor teacher will be available to mentor another 59 teacher approximately one (1) hour a week. This mentoring may include conversations, help 60 developing lesson plans, listening to and helping address teaching concerns, and more. Each mentor 61 teacher will receive a paid stipend in the amount equivalent of up to five (5) days at their per diem 62 rate including the stipend provided through the BEST program, which will provide up to 37.5 hours 63 of mentoring. Mentors and Xxxxxxx will participate in an intentional, structured mentor program to 64 be developed jointly with CEA and the District. If the BEST program ceases to exist this section will 65 be reopened upon request of the District or Association to determine whether another funding source 66 may be available for mentorship stipends.
Teacher Mentor Program. Teachers who serve as mentors shall be compensated at the rate indicated in Appendix B. The parties will jointly develop the guidelines for the Teacher Mentor Program.
Teacher Mentor Program. During the course of negotiations for the 2004-2007 ETA Agreement the Board and ETA discussed several important items. Because these items were discussed for the purposes of clarification and idea sharing, the parties agreed that the items should be memorialized. During the negotiations for the 2011 – 2014 ETA Agreement, additional changes recommended by the TMP Steering Committee were added. Therefore, the parties have set forth these ideas in this Memorandum of Understanding, and specifically agree that the following items are not intended to be part of the ETA Agreement, nor are they intended to be subject to the ETA grievance procedure. Included in these items are:

Each 59 mentor teacher will receive a paid stipend in the amount equivalent to five (5) days at their per 60 diem rate, which will provide up to 37.5 hours of mentoring.
Teacher Mentor Program. A. District Teacher Coach/Consulting Teacher Selection Team
1. Two administrators and two teachers may form the District Selection Team to review for the teacher coach/consulting teacher positions, however the association president and his/her designee and the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and his/her designee will make the final determination.
2. The number of positions will be determined by the projected number of new staff to be hired and the number of teachers involved in the consulting teacher program.
3. Applications (accompanied by criteria and information regarding the number of positions needed) will be made available to all staff. Selections will be made as soon as possible. All applicants will be contacted by mail regarding District Selection Team decisions.
4. Teacher coaches/consulting teachers will receive orientation in coaching expectations provided by the District Selection Team.
B. Teacher/Coach Responsibilities (FIRST YEAR)
1. Introduce new teachers to all affected staff.
2. May attend new teacher orientation with new teacher.
3. May attend teacher evaluation preparation with new teacher.
4. Become familiar with the new teacher’s background, college courses and previous teaching or work experience.
5. Draft a calendar of meeting dates.
6. Review grade level curriculum.
7. Professional Days Available (a total of 4 are allotted).
a. Coach will assist teacher in locating relevant staff development activities to attend.
b. Coach will arrange for new teacher to observe within or outside the District in an area of interest or need.
c. Other uses as determined by coach/teacher/administration.
8. Keep appropriate documentation of the years’ activities, which is due in the building principal’s office by
9. Evaluate program/make suggestions for improvement.
Teacher Mentor Program. The principal in each building will assign all new educators to Orofino Joint School District 171 a mentor for the first year(s) of employment with the district. The purpose of the mentor will be to provide information, support, and encouragement for the success of the initial educator. Orofino Joint School District 171 understands the mentor program will go beyond the mentor teacher’s responsibilities and will provide a monetary award if money is available for this activity during the school year when the teacher is assigned to be a mentor. The proposed stipend amount will be stipulated ahead of each assignment and may vary based on the assignment. The mentor will need to provide to the administrator their meeting logs and the monthly checklist to receive their stipend. The administration and board will make the final decision of awarding the stipends to the mentors, based upon the initial agreement and satisfactory completion of the agreement.
