New Permanent Appointments. New permanent appointments are for an initial term of four years and may be continued thereafter subject to the provisions of this agreement and the continuations policy.

New Permanent Appointments. General staff are confirmed in their employment after three months (unless a longer period is agreed) not exceeding six months and specified in writing to the employee. A comprehensive monitoring must take place within two months or five months as the case may be. Academic staff who are newly appointed will undergo an initial six month period of monitoring and support. This can be continued for a further six months in certain circumstances.
