Common use of Normal Clause in Contracts

Normal. When a day recognized by this Agreement as a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be considered to be the holiday. When a day recognized by this Agreement as a holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be considered to be the holiday. Employees, except for Solid Waste and Recycling Division employees who regularly work on designated minor holidays, and who are compensated for overtime work at one and one-half (1½) times their hourly base rate of pay, shall be paid one and one-half (1½) times their hourly base rate of pay for each hour worked on a holiday in addition to the holiday pay for which they are entitled. For the purpose of this section, minor holidays shall be identified with an asterisk (*). Solid Waste and Recycling employees who are required to work the following Saturday because the designated major holiday fell on Friday shall be paid two (2) times their base rate of pay for the Saturday work. Solid Waste and Recycling employees may elect either cash or compensatory time as compensation for minor holidays.
