SPD will work with the Commission to assess SPD’s current mentoring programs and consider whether to implement a pilot volunteer patrol officer mentoring program to provide better mentoring and support to officers. Among the mentoring options that SPD and the Commission may consider are: (a) a pilot program pairing officers with five or more years of experience with officers with less than five years of experience; and (b) a pilot mentoring program for aspiring sergeants.

Officer Assistance and Support. 247. To maintain high-level, quality service; to ensure officer safety and accountability; and to promote constitutional, effective policing, APD agrees to provide officers and employees ready access to mental health and support resources. To achieve this outcome, APD agrees to implement the requirements below. 248. APD agrees to develop and offer a centralized and comprehensive range of mental health services that comports with best practices and current professional standards, including: readily accessible confidential counseling services with both direct and indirect referrals; critical incident debriefings and crisis counseling; peer support; stress management training; and mental health evaluations.

PRPD shall provide officers and employees with a range of non-punitive supports and services to address and correct problem behavior, as part of PRPD’s disciplinary and performance improvement systems. These supports and services shall include a comprehensive range of mental health services that include, but are not limited to: readily accessible confidential counseling services; critical incident debriefings and crisis counseling; mental health evaluations; and stress management training that comport with generally accepted practices. 202. PRPD shall train management and supervisory personnel in officer support services protocols to ensure wide availability and use of officer support services.
Officer Assistance and Support. 271. Physical and mental wellness has a direct impact on officers’ ability to perform their jobs safely, constitutionally, and effectively. Xxxxxxx and stress impact health, judgment, and performance and can thus negatively impact officer well-being. Recognizing these dynamics, and the pressures of being a law enforcement officer generally, the City will continue its officer assistance and support efforts to support officer resilience and their physical and emotional health and will provide officers with resources to maintain their physical and mental health by implementing the paragraphs below.

  • TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM A. As part of the University policy to encourage staff members to further their formal education, the Tuition Assistance Program for Employees was established. Under the Tuition Assistance plan, qualified Employees will be issued vouchers which will enable them to register without paying tuition. (Incidental fees, however, must be paid by the Employee.)
