Order of Rehire. An employee who is laid off shall be placed on a rehire list for a period of one (1) year from the date of the employee's most recent layoff. When hiring to fill a vacant position in a bargaining unit classification, the rehire list shall take precedence over all other employment lists. The last employee laid off shall be the first employee rehired until the rehire list is exhausted. Any employee reemployed from the rehire list shall be returned to their pay step and retain all unused sick leave accrual. All rehired employees will resume accruing vacation based on their months of service at the time of their lay off.
