Common use of Positions Temporarily Vacant Clause in Contracts

Positions Temporarily Vacant. (a) Except in cases of emergency the Employer agrees that, an employee's workload shall not be increased as a result of positions temporarily vacant due to illness, vacation leave or any other reasons. (b) In such instances, the Employer shall give qualified regular employees the opportunity to substitute in higher paying positions and arrange for staff replacements at the lowest paying category. (c) When faculty are unable to teach their scheduled class(es) due to illness, medical leaves and emergencies, and an instructor is required to ensure the integrity of the course(s) and the program(s), the College shall provide substitute instructors.
