Preceptor. At the time a new employee is hired, transferred, or promoted into a represented position in a department, the manager will assign an experienced employee to orient that new employee. Based on the new employee’s prior experience, a decision will be made by the manager as to whether an assignment of preceptor(s) or a general orientation will be applicable. A preceptor may be assigned to a student, new employees, and current employees when it is determined to be appropriate by the Employer. An employee who does not wish to participate as a preceptor will not be penalized for that decision, provided there are qualified employees willing and available to precept to meet the Employer’s requirements. It is understood that employees in the ordinary course of their responsibility will be expected to participate in the general assistance, support, guidance and orientation for new employees.
