PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Schedule A which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement. Such salary schedule shall remain in effect during the term of this Agreement.
B. The salary schedule is based upon a normal academic year. For all staff members hired after May 31, 2014, outside experience credit extra work the teacher shall be entitled to appropriate additional professional compensation. See Schedule B.
C. Whenever possible teachers involved in voluntary extra curricular activities will be notified at the end of each school year of such involvement for the ensuing school year. All positions regarding extra curricular activities including but not limited to coaching positions are not tenure positions, and are yearly appointments. Such assignments will be made with due consideration given to the person who had the assignment the previous year. While appointment to and removal from extra curricular activities is in the Employer’s discretion (with or without cause), the Employer will, upon written request from the employee (within five (5) school days after notice of the intended action), advise the employee of the reasons for failure to appoint them to the desired position. The Employer’s decision may be reviewed through the Grievance Procedure (excluding arbitration) by submitting the request directly to Step 2 of the Grievance Procedure (the Superintendent’s level) within five (5) days following the employee’s receipt of such reasons.
D. A teacher new to the system shall be given credit on the salary scale for previous years of teaching experience in a public school, private school, or institute of higher education beyond a K-12 District, up to seven (7) years. E. Increments become effective at the beginning of each academic year and advancement under the salary schedule shall be automatic as of September 1 or February 1 following completion of required academic or professional courses and attainment of additional experience. Beginning with the 1993-94 school year, additional credits earned before September 1 or February 1, will entitle the teacher to move on the salary schedule as soon as certified transcripts are received by the district. If the transcript is received after September 1 or February 1, retroactive pay to those dates will be granted provided the credits were earned before September 1 or February 1.
F. Teachers in the Baraga Area Schools shall have the right to select one of the following options for the method of receiving their contract salary: Contract salary to be divided into twenty-six (26) equal payments to be made at fourteen (14) day intervals throughout the year. Contract salary to be divided in twenty (20) equal installments to be made at fourteen (14) day intervals to coincide with those paydays established in Option A. Any teacher selecting Option A may receive all contract salary due for the balance of the year on the last day of the regular school year. In order to qualify educational advancement in a given year, the staff member must notify the Human Resources Department by submitting an official transcript, grade report or certificate of completion no later than September 1st in the year in which the educational advancement is to take place. 1. Zero (0) sick leave days used = $200.00 or 1 additional personal business day
2. One (1) or less sick leave days used = $150.00
3. Two (2) or less sick leave days used = $100.00
4. Three (3) or less sick leave days used = $50.00
I. If by mutual consent a teacher shall teach more than the normal teaching load as set forth in Article VI, he shall receive one-sixth (1/6) of his salary for the duration of the agreementadditional assignment.
J. Teachers who substitute during their preparation period shall be compensated at the rate of $20.00 per class period. All pro(See Article VI., C., 6.)
1. No regularly assigned teacher shall be used as a substitute teacher except in case of emergency. The failure of a substitute to arrive on schedule or the inability to secure a qualified substitute shall be considered an emergency.
2. If a teacher substitutes twenty-rated days five (25) minutes or less, he shall be compensated at half (1/2) the substitute rate. If a teacher substitutes more than twenty-five (25) minutes, he shall be compensated at the full substitute rate.
3. A teacher may volunteer to fill in for a colleague for no compensation.
4. Teachers who substitute during their preparation period shall have salary adjusted accordinglythe option of accumulating five (5) of these periods per semester and requesting one (1) release day for their effort. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. A. The salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Appendix “A”, which is incorporated in this Agreement. Such salary schedules shall remain in effect during the term of this Agreement.
B. The salary schedule is based upon a normal weekly teaching load as hereinafter defined in Article X. For all extra work, other than defined in Appendix “A” and in Article VI. hereof, the teacher shall be entitled to the hourly rate as established in “Appendix B” subsection D3. When attendance at activities, other than staff members hired or curriculum meetings not specified in Article VI. as part of the regular teaching duties is required, he/she shall be paid at the hourly rate as established in “Appendix B” subsection D3. Daily preparation for effective teaching, correcting papers, themes, and attending staff meetings requires many hours of application outside the classroom and add to the professional responsibilities of the teacher. In addition, requests are made for attendance at staff conferences, parent-teacher conferences, PTA meetings, and the like, which requests can become excessive. It is mutually agreed that if required attendance at staff meetings beyond their normal workday shall exceed two (2) fifty-five (55) minute periods per month, the Board will pay the teachers for any hours in excess thereof at the teacher's hourly rate. These meetings will be held on the first, second or third Monday of the month. However, if there is no school on the first, second or third Monday, then the meeting may be rescheduled with a 24-hour notice. It is understood that staff meetings for elementary and secondary teachers will begin no later than fifteen (15) minutes after May 31, 2014, outside experience credit the students are dismissed or end fifteen (15) minutes before the students arrive. The principal may excuse any teacher from attendance. The meeting times will be mutually agreed upon by the building Principal and the staff.
C. A teacher released during the school day to engage in negotiating on behalf of the Association with any representative of the Board or participating in any professional grievance negotiation shall be released from regular duties without loss of salary.
D. The Association and Board agree that the Board should attempt to sufficient fund equity to ensure continued operation of the School District. See article XXI covering this subject.

PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For all staff members hired after May 31A. The salaries and differential of employees covered by this Agreement and the eligibility requirements therefore, 2014are set forth in pertinent part in Appendices A, outside experience B, C and D which are attached to and made a part of this Agreement. Also included in Appendix A are the schedules for the school year and various provisions for payments and deduction.

E. Teachers who qualify for the next higher track on the salary schedule shall be considered equivalent of MA + 30. Educational advancement will only occur once a year placed on the next higher tract effective at the beginning of their contract providing the proof of completion of requirements is received in the Central Office by the fourth Friday after Labor Day. When proof of completion is received after the fourth Friday, teachers shall be placed on schedule the Monday following receipt of proof.
F. All teachers shall be compensated in accordance with the provisions of this article.
G. Hereinafter, one half year of experience shall be defined as the completion of the teaching responsibilities of a full time teacher for one semester or one half of the normal classroom responsibilities for two semesters. Teachers may accumulate equivalent fractions of teaching assignments toward a one half year of experience.
H. Teachers required in the course of their work to drive personal automobiles from one school building to another shall receive a car allowance at the IRS rate per mile. The same allowance shall be given for use of personal cars for field trips or other business of the district.
I. When a regular payday occurs during a vacation, which begins within the two days preceding the payday, paychecks shall be available by noon of the last school day prior to the vacation.
J. Beginning with the 1984-85 school year, teachers assigned to less than a full-time position shall receive pro-rated benefits, salary, and seniority in relation to the percentage of the day they work. Teachers who have worked in the school system on a part-time basis prior to the 1984-85 school year will continue to receive a percentage no less than what was paid during the 1983-84 school year. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For all staff members hired after May 31A. The salaries and differential of employees covered by this Agreement and the eligibility requirements therefore, 2014are set forth in pertinent part in Appendixes A, outside B, C and D which are attached to and made a part of this Agreement. Also included in Appendix A are the schedules for the school year and various provisions for payments and deduction.
B. Teachers entering the system may be given full credit for up to five (5) years of prior teaching experience (while under provisional or permanent state certification) on the salary schedule as set forth in Appendix A. Full credit will be given for up all teaching experience in the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, except substituting. This five (5) year limit shall not cause an Alternative Education or ELL teacher to seven have a decrease in pay. Additional years of credit for outside teaching experience may be recommended at the discretion of the administration. D. All full and part time teachers will advance a full step on the salary schedule every school year. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For 7.1 The basic salaries paid to teachers per this Agreement are set forth in Appendix B, which is attached to and incorporated into this Agreement.
7.2 Unless it is in the best interest of the District to do otherwise, all staff members teachers shall be hired after May 31at Step One of the appropriate salary schedule, 2014regardless of experience. Any vacancy in an extra-curricular position which occurs during the school year shall be posted in each building in the District for a period of five (75) yearsschool days prior to filling the vacancy. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For all staff members hired after May 31, 2014, outside experience credit A. Professional employees covered by this Agreement will be paid according to the following three (3) options:
1. Payment in twenty-six (26) (or twenty-seven (27) in years where 27 would be applicable) equal bi-weekly paychecks from September to August.
2. Payment divided into twenty-six (26) equal payments with twenty-one (21) or twenty- two (22) bi-weekly checks from September to June. The final five (5) or four (4) payments will be included in the first July paycheck providing notification is given to the District Office by May 15 of the current school year.
3. Payment in twenty-one (21) or twenty-two (22) bi-weekly paychecks from September to June providing notification is given to the District Office at the time the contract is signed for up the following school year. This notice will be in the form of a written statement signed and attached to the returned contract.
B. Placement on the salary schedule at the time of hire shall be in accordance with the professional employee’s total years of experience. A professional employee with a break in service may be brought in on a lower step on the salary schedule at the discretion of the Superintendent.
C. For those employees starting work with the Stratham School District after 6/13/94, the following condition shall apply: For purposes of advancement to higher salary tracts, only graduate credits earned since the date the District granted the employee’s current tract placement will be considered for further advancement to other tracts on the schedule.
D. Each professional employee may be advanced in the salary schedule until the maximum is reached, provided that the requirements for recertification have been met, that a professional attitude has been advanced, and that there has been demonstrated an improvement or growth in teaching resulting in a generally satisfactory performance. Professional employees who are not to receive the customary increment will be notified in writing the reason for said decision by March 30.
E. Forty-five course credits approved by the Superintendent beyond a Bachelor’s Degree shall be considered an equivalent to a Master’s Degree for salary purposes.
F. Upon approval of the Principal and the Superintendent the Board reserves the right to grant increments in excess of those provided by the salary schedule to a professional employee who has made an unusual contribution to the school system.
G. For salary purposes, fifteen (15) Staff Development clock hours will equal one (1) college credit and such credits are applicable toward salary advancement in accordance with the salary plan. Staff development credit for approved workshops or approved courses taken during school hours are not applicable for salary advancement. The District Office will keep a dual tally of those Staff Development credits achieved during school hours and those achieved after school hours. Salary adjustment as a result of professional advancement must be submitted to the District Office by August 15 of the ensuing year. For those employees starting work with the Stratham School District after June 17, 2005, no more than seven (7) yearscredits from professional development sources will be recognized for track increases within each separate salary track. X. A professional employee will be reimbursed up to an amount not to exceed the districtcurrent cost of tuition for two (2) four credit graduate level courses at the University of New Hampshire rate per credit hour. All This will be paid for either approved courses used for this credit or approved workshops. This will be paid upon submission of proof of amount of tuition and fees required, and upon recommendation of the Superintendent. Conference/workshop requests exceeding $1000.00 will be subject to Board approval. The Central Office will deduct said amount from the professional employee’s pay if the course or workshop is failed or not completed. The course or workshop must be approved in advance by the Superintendent in order for the professional employee to qualify under this provision. A professional employee may request the use up to $2300 of these funds as part of the application/completion of National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification subject to Board approval. The Central Office will deduct said amount from the professional employee’s pay if the teacher does not achieve a score of at least 80% of the passing score that qualifies one for National Board certification within three years. This repayment may be forgiven upon the recommendation of the Superintendent. A professional employee receiving this assistance must agree to complete the next full year in Stratham School District or hisforfeit the above amount.
I. The School District will pay 90% of the premium for either family, two person, or individual premiums of the BC/her designeeBS Comp $200 Managed Care Plan up to a maximum of $20,000 annually. Only fully licensed staff members Any cost above $20,000 will be eligible for these tracks. Undergraduate course work will count for educational advancement provided that: 1) the staff member is not eligible to take graduate courses in that field; 2) that the course work will directly benefit the staff member’s assignment or anticipated assignment; and 3) such courses are approved shared by the Superintendent School District as follows: 2005-06 75% district, 25% employee 2006-07 75% district, 25% employee 2007-08 75% district, 25% employee The total percentage shared by employees will not exceed 15% of the total premium in any year.
J. Life insurance will be issued to each professional employee with 100% of the premium paid by the school district. Coverage will be a $100,000 Life/ $200,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment term policy for each professional employee. Each employee will receive a copy of said insurance policy.
K. The School District will furnish to its professional employees 100% payment of a single, two person, or the Superintendent’s designeefamily, membership under Delta Dental Insurance covering 100% of Coverage A, 80% of Coverage B, and 70% of Coverage C with a maximum per person, per contract year of $1500.
L. All benefits and salary as noted in this Agreement shall be prorated for any professional employee who teaches less than full time. 2. A salary increment is added for the completion of a Master’s degree. C. The parties recognize that from time to time, the creation of additional extra duty positions is desirable. No increases in percentage will be negotiated during the life of the contract.
D. Extracurricular and community education positions shall first be offered to bargaining unit members. Compensation for additional periods taught by secondary teachers shall be determined by dividing their professional daily rate of pay (as defined in Section E above) by the normal number of teaching periods as set forth in Article IX and multiplying that result by the number of workdays they are assigned the additional period.
G. Teachers who agree to substitute during their preparation period shall receive additional remuneration at the rate of 1/5 (20%) of their professional daily rate, not to exceed a rate of $50/assignment.
H. Teachers, under their base contract, will participate in Professional Development days as required by law. To the extent possible, the calendar shall include the dates of these Professional Development days. Evidence of such participation will be presented to the Board no later than June 1 of each school year. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For all While serving in their present assignments, teachers are encouraged to qualify themselves to meet the requirements for advancement in staff members responsibilities and for advancement on the salary schedule.
Section A - Placement and Advancement on Salary Schedule
1. The basic salaries of teachers are set forth in Appendix I, which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement.
2. Teachers with equivalent experience in other systems shall be given full credit for the first ten (10) years of experience and one (1) year of credit for each additional two (2) years of experience to a maximum of fifteen (15) years' credit. This provision is effective for teachers hired after May 31October 1, 20141993. In the event a teacher disagrees with the denial of approval of hours, the teacher may, within ten (10) calendar days of receipt of notification of denial, appeal such denial, in writing, to the Professional Growth Committee. In no event may the teacher use the Grievance/Arbitration Procedure to appeal a denial of credit hours.

Any teacher considered for denial of advancement on the salary schedule shall have an opportunity to discuss the recommendation with the Board prior to action by the Board.
Section C - Paychecks
1. Starting with the 2008-09 year, the staff member must notify the Human Resources Department by submitting an official transcript, grade report or certificate of completion no later than September 1st teachers shall receive their salaries in the year in which the educational advancement is to take placesemi-monthly payments (24 checks). A teacher wishing to discontinue an extra- curricular position shall notify the Administration by April 1.
Section 8 The Board shall determine whether bargaining unit employees shall work additional days beyond those set forth in the calendar. In this event employees shall be paid additional compensation for each day worked at their daily rate.
Section 9 If a teacher is unable to report for work on a scheduled work day and he/she is not considered to be on an approved leave covered by Article XI, the teacher shall forfeit a day’s pay as determined by Article X, Section 6. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For 7.1 The basic salaries paid to teachers per this Agreement are set forth in Appendix B, which is attached to and incorporated into this Agreement.
7.2 Unless it is in the best interest of the District to do otherwise, all staff members teachers shall be hired after May 31at Step One of the appropriate salary schedule, 2014regardless of experience. 7.4 Any assignment in addition to the normal teaching schedule; extra-curricular duties and assignments set forth in Appendix C and summer school courses, shall not be obligatory but shall be with the consent of the teacher.
A. The basic salaries of teachers involved in extra-curricular duties covered by this Agreement are set forth in Appendix C, which is attached to and incorporated into this Agreement.
B. Any vacancy in an extra-curricular position which occurs during the school year shall be posted in each building in the District for a period of five (75) yearsschool days prior to filling the vacancy. To If a vacancy in such position occurs during the summer months, the Association President and building representatives shall be eligible notified of said vacancy and the position shall be posted at the District’s administrative office for educational advancementa period of two (2) weeks prior to the filling of the vacancy.
C. The parties recognize that from time to time, the creation of additional extra duty positions is desirable. Bargaining unit members who want to add positions to Schedule C during the length of the Agreement shall follow the procedure outlined in Appendix C. No increases in percentage will be negotiated during the life of the Agreement.
D. Extra-curricular positions shall first be offered to bargaining unit members. No new non-bargaining unit member shall be hired for such position while there is a staff willing and qualified bargaining unit member must who meets the reasonable specifications for the position and is an available applicant.
7.5 Certified teachers employed in their regular assignments beyond the regular school year, shall receive an additional per diem payment based on 182 working days.
7.6 Teachers shall be taking graduatepaid in no fewer than 24 equal installments, with the first payment being made on or before the second Friday following the first scheduled teacher work day.
7.7 Teacher participation in summer curricular projects intended to develop policy and/or permanent sections of a course of study shall be compensated at the professional rate.

PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For (A) The professional salary schedule for all staff members hired after May 31the certified professional employees employed by the District as covered by this Agreement is set forth in the appendices of this Agreement. Salary Schedule, 2014APPENDIX A1 – The attached salary schedule shall be in place effective July 1, outside experience credit 2010 through June 30, 2011. (B) Teachers shall have the option of being paid their regular salaries in either 22 or 26 biweekly installments. The teacher shall notify the Superintendent through the SAU #9 business office of his/her preference by the opening of the school year (APPENDIX C). Unless a teacher, individually, has made arrangements otherwise with the SAU #9 business office (APPENDIX C) by the above date, the teacher shall be paid in the same installments as the previous year, or in the case of a newly employed teacher, in 26 installments. When teachers elect to be paid their salaries in 26 installments, such teachers shall receive the balance of their salary in a lump sum on the last payment date in June.
(C) The School Board reserves the right, on recommendation of the Superintendent, to hold a teacher on the same step or to withhold any additional salary increase, subject to Section E of this Article, if the teacher’s performance falls below the professional standards of the School District, as measured in part by the established evaluation procedure. The teacher shall be notified by the Superintendent concerning a recommendation to withhold advancement and the reasons for the recommendation, all prior to the recommendation to the Board. The Board will make its decision and may, at its discretion, change its decision and place the teacher on step or reinstate any additional salary increase as of the date of its decision. No request for review will be given received prior to November 1st, and any change in salary that results will not be retroactive.
(D) Once employees are on schedule, they shall proceed annually to the next step in the assigned track until maximum is reached or until they qualify for up another track, subject to seven ARTICLE 28 (7D). When they qualify for another track, they shall proceed to the next track and also advance one step (assuming they are not at the maximum step when they move on to the new track). In September of each year, employees with the appropriate number of credits for a track change shall proceed to the appropriate track effective the beginning of that school year, provided that such employees affected submit proof of credits earned to the Superintendent by October 1st of the school year in which the track change is effective. During the remainder of the school year, one (1) yearsadditional track change shall be allowed and will become effective as of January 1st of that school year, provided the employee submits proof of credits earned or the equivalent to the Superintendent by February 1st of said school year, and provided that any employee anticipating a track change to be effective in September or January 1st, so notify the Superintendent in writing on or before December 1st of the school year prior to which the change is to become effective. To qualify for any of the “Bachelor Plus” tracks, the credits earned beyond a Bachelor Degree must be eligible in the field of education or subject matter area. To qualify for educational advancementthe Master track, a staff member Master Degree must be taking graduatein the field of education or subject matter area. To qualify for a “Master-level classes that are part Plus” track all qualifying credits must have been approved by the Superintendent. (E) The Xxxxxxxx School District shall pay eligible teachers longevity payments commencing at the completion of the 10th year of service to the District. Service to the District must be continuous service, though any approved leave or his/her designeedisability will not be considered a break in service. Only fully licensed staff The longevity payment shall be $1,000.00 commencing at the completion of the 10th year of service to the District. This direct compensation payment will be additional to the salary. Employees receiving longevity payments prior to 1997-98 will continue to receive longevity payments for as long as they are employed by the District.
(F) The Xxxxxxxx School District shall pay teachers severance payment upon death, resignation, retirement, and/or layoff. The teacher shall be paid the $20 per day for all unused, accumulated sick leave days to a limit of one hundred (100) days. In the case of the death of a teacher, severance payment shall be made to the employee’s spouse or designated beneficiary.
(G) The Xxxxxxxx School District shall pay teachers who are requested or required to work beyond the contractual number of days provided for in this Agreement, as follows: the per diem rate will continue to apply to any bargaining unit member who engages in duties related to their regular assignment. Payment for curriculum development and other committee work and training shall be at a rate of $30.00 per hour. This stipulation shall not apply to bargaining unit members who are working on committees with teachers from other districts who are paid at a per diem rate. These members will continue to be eligible paid on a per diem basis (186 days).
(H) The District shall pay directly to the lender $1,000 per year to reduce the principal of any teacher who has an outstanding student loan for these tracks. Undergraduate course work will count for educational advancement provided that: 1) the staff member is not eligible their education; payment to take graduate courses in that field; 2) that the course work will directly benefit the staff member’s assignment or anticipated assignment; and 3) such courses are approved by the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For all staff members hired A. The salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Schedule A, which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement. C. Degreed teachers under contract and holding provisional certification shall be eligible for educational advancement, a staff member must be taking graduate-level classes that are part of an advanced degree program or endorsement that will benefit the district. Only fully licensed staff members will be eligible quarter hours for these tracks. D. The salary schedule is based on the regular school calendar and the normal teaching load as defined in the Agreement. Reimbursement equal to twenty-five percent (25%) of the teacher's current salary between on Schedule A, capped at Step Five (5), will be paid to a teacher assuming an extra class for the entire school year at a building using the trimester schedule. If a teacher at a building using the trimester schedule only teaches for one trimester, then the teacher will be paid at eight and one-third percent (8.33%) of the teacher’s current salary on Schedule A, capped at Step Five (5). Reimbursement equal to twenty percent (20%) of the teacher’s current salary on Schedule A, capped at Step Five (5), will be paid to a teacher assuming an extra class for the entire school year at a building using the semester schedule. If a teacher at a building using the semester schedule only teaches for one semester, then the teacher will be paid at ten percent (10%) of the teacher’s current salary on Schedule A, capped at Step Five (5). Assignment of an extra class for the school year shall be voluntary and shall be offered first to the highly qualified candidate with the most District-wide seniority within the applicable building. If a highly qualified teacher is not needed for the class, then it shall be offered to the candidate with the most District-wide seniority within the applicable building. If possible, schedules shall be adjusted to enable the said candidate to avail him/herself of this opportunity.
E. Teachers required in the course of their work to drive personal automobiles from one (1) school building to another shall receive a car mileage reimbursement. The same allowance shall be given for the use of personal cars for field trips or other business of the District. This per mile reimbursement rate will be adjusted annually on January 1st according to the Internal Revenue Service standard rate.
F. Extra duties will be compensated in accordance with the Salary Schedules B and B1.
G. A non-degreed registered nurse shall receive eighty percent (80%) of the amount listed on the staff member teachers' salary scale for teachers holding a bachelor's degree. A degreed registered nurse shall receive ninety percent (90%) of the amount listed on the teachers' salary scale for teachers holding a bachelor's degree.
H. Teachers completing coursework that allows for a degree change on the salary schedule shall be compensated in the following manner: Coursework completed before the first day of school reflects as an entire year degree change and payment will be processed once official transcripts are received in the HR Office and spread over the remaining pays for said school year. Coursework completed after the first day of school and prior to the completion of 1st semester shall be reflected as a 2nd semester degree change (teacher receives one- half (1/2) of increment amount). Payment will be processed as a 2nd semester degree change once official transcripts are received in the HR Office and spread over the remaining pays for said school year.
I. Upon completion of the 12th, 14th, 19th, 24th, and 27th years of service to Bedford, teachers shall receive longevity increments according to the chart below. J. Student Support Coordinators’ work year will consist of one hundred eighty-four (184) workdays. All contractual benefits within the existing Master Agreement with the exception of Longevity are afforded to Student Support Coordinators. Bedford Public Schools and Bedford Education Association agree that the Student Support Coordinators (Home School Coordinators) will receive, minimally, 70% of Bachelor’s step one if less than a four-year degree (or equivalent); 80% of Bachelor’s step one with a four-year degree or equivalent; and 80% of Bachelor’s step one, with a $500 one-time stipend for a Master’s degree or the equivalent. Longevity will be $200 per year. The district encourages certification/degree in a relevant area of counseling. Upon receiving Family Life Certification each SSC shall receive a stipend of $500. School Support Coordinators who are working towards their Masters degree in Counseling shall receive BEA contractual benefits according to college reimbursement. The District agrees that an elementary school support coordinator position with department chair like responsibilities shall be posted at the five thousand dollars ($5,000) (formerly $1,343) per school year. It is eligible understood that this coordinator must have a Masters in counseling and shall work an additional hour daily to collect under assume his/her extra responsibilities.
K. The District agrees to pay one-half (1/2) of the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act and certification fee for the staff BEA member’s actual salary at time process/examination; upon passage of temporary disabilitythe National Teacher Certification the instructor shall receive fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500) annually per year as long as the certificate is valid. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For (A) The professional salary schedule for all staff members hired after May 31the certified professional employees employed by the District as covered by this Agreement is set forth in Appendix A of this Agreement. The attached salary schedules shall be in place effective July 1, 20142019 through June 30, outside experience credit 2021.
(B) Teachers shall have the option of being paid their regular salaries in either 22 or 26 biweekly installments. The teacher shall notify the Superintendent through the SAU #9 business office of his/her preference by the opening of the school year (APPENDIX C). Unless a teacher, individually, has made arrangements otherwise with the SAU #9 business office (APPENDIX C) by the above date, the teacher shall be paid in the same installments as the previous year, or in the case of a newly employed teacher, in 26 installments. When teachers elect to be paid their salaries in 26 installments, such teachers shall receive the balance of their salary in a lump sum on the last payment date in June.
(C) The School Board reserves the right, on recommendation of the Superintendent, to hold a teacher on the same step or to withhold any additional salary increase, subject to Section E of this Article, if the teacher’s performance falls below the professional standards of the School District, as measured in part by the established evaluation procedure. The teacher shall be notified by the Superintendent concerning a recommendation to withhold advancement and the reasons for the recommendation, all prior to the recommendation to the Board. The Board will make its decision and may, at its discretion, change its decision and place the teacher on step or reinstate any additional salary increase as of the date of its decision. No request for review will be given received prior to November 1st, and any change in salary that results will not be retroactive.
(D) Once employees are on schedule, they shall proceed annually to the next step in the assigned track until maximum is reached or until they qualify for up another track, subject to seven ARTICLE 28 (7D). When they qualify for another track, they shall proceed to the next track and also advance one step (assuming they are not at the maximum step when they move on to the new track). In September of each year, employees with the appropriate number of credits for a track change shall proceed to the appropriate track effective the beginning of that school year, provided that such employees affected submit proof of credits earned to the Superintendent by October 1st of the school year in which the track change is effective. During the remainder of the school year, one (1) yearsadditional track change shall be allowed and will become effective as of January 1st of that school year, provided the employee submits proof of credits earned or the equivalent to the Superintendent by February 1st of said school year, and provided that any employee anticipating a track change to be effective in September or January 1st, so notify the Superintendent in writing on or before December 1st of the school year prior to which the change is to become effective. To qualify for any of the “Bachelor Plus” tracks, the credits earned beyond a Bachelor Degree must be eligible in the field of education or subject matter area. To qualify for educational advancementthe Master track, a staff member Master Degree must be taking graduatein the field of education or subject matter area. To qualify for a “Master-level classes that are part Plus” track all qualifying credits must have been approved by the Superintendent. For the purpose of an advanced degree program or endorsement that will benefit the districtthis article, 15 continuing education units shall be considered equal to one college credit effective July 1, 1999. All courses used for this credit CEU’s must be have been approved by the Superintendent of Schools. See Appendix H for the process for earning and documenting CEUs.
(E) Removal of longevity language as identified in Appendix A (2017-18 and 2018-19 Salary Schedule).
(F) The Xxxxxxxx School District shall pay teachers severance payment upon death, resignation, retirement, and/or layoff. The teacher shall be paid the $20 per day for all unused, accumulated sick leave days to a limit of one hundred (100) days. In the case of the death of a teacher, severance payment shall be made to the employee’s spouse or his/her designeedesignated beneficiary.
(G) The Xxxxxxxx School District shall pay teachers who are requested or required to work beyond the contractual number of days provided for in this Agreement, as follows: the per diem rate will continue to apply to any bargaining unit member who engages in duties related to their regular assignment. Only fully licensed staff Payment for curriculum development and other committee work and training shall be at a rate of $30.00 per hour. This stipulation shall not apply to bargaining unit members who are working on committees with teachers from other districts who are paid at a per diem rate. (H) The District shall pay directly to the lender $1,000 per year to reduce the principal of any teacher who has an outstanding student loan for these tracks. Undergraduate course work will count for educational advancement provided that: 1) the staff member is not eligible their education; payment to take graduate courses in that field; 2) that the course work will directly benefit the staff member’s assignment or anticipated assignment; and 3) such courses are approved by the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For all staff members hired after May 31, 2014, outside A. Basic salaries of employees covered by this Agreement are set forth in Appendix B which is attached hereto and incorporated in this Agreement. B. All new employees may be given credit on the salary schedule set forth in Appendix B for years of experience credit in other school districts and/or experience related to the position of employment up to a maximum of five (5) years. Additional years of experience may be granted upon the Superintendent's recommendation and approval of the Board. Salaries will be given paid semi-monthly beginning September 6, 2016 and shall be paid in twenty-four (24) equal installments unless, prior to September 1, written request is made for up twenty (20) equal payments. The above salary payment arrangement is subject to approval and processing through the payroll-processing center. Annually authorized vocational education teachers shall be paid on the annually authorized vocational education column on Appendix B. If an employee possesses a full vocational authorization certificate valid for the course(s) they are teaching, they will be paid according to the regular salary schedule.
C. The salary schedule is based upon the regular school calendar as determined jointly by Administration and Association and the normal professional responsibility and duties as defined in this Agreement. Any employee performing identical duties during the summer months and under a summer employment contract will be compensated on a prorated basis of his/her salary schedule. Reference Article XVIII, Subparagraph (2).
D. Employees accumulating enough credit hours for movement to an advanced degree schedule shall receive an adjustment in pay (upon presentation of proof of credits earned). Credits for such adjustment must be:
1. Graduate semester hours or their quarterly equivalent;
2. Earned within seven (7) yearsyears after beginning the course work toward the next higher schedule;
3. To be eligible for educational advancementIn the field of specialization, a staff member must be taking graduate-level classes that are part of an advanced degree program or endorsement that will benefit educationally related to the district. All courses used for this credit must be approved services provided by the Superintendent agency;
4. Listed on an official transcript(s) of a university or college and the credits of "C" or better, or if no grade is given "passed."
E. When an employee has a minimum of six (6) consecutive years with CCRESA and has attained the maximum step in his/her designee. Only fully licensed staff members will be eligible classification and has remained at the maximum step for these tracks. Undergraduate course work will count for educational advancement provided that: (1) contract year, he/she will receive the staff member additional longevity value as stated in Appendix B.
F. Fringe benefits shall be provided as set forth in Appendix A.
G. Travel – Employees shall be reimbursed for approved business-related travel expenses in alignment with IRS guidelines and subject to maximum amounts for meals and lodging. Reimbursement may include mileage reimbursement when employees are required to furnish their own transportation for travel necessary to the performance of their job responsibilities. Employees will not be reimbursed for commute mileage.
1. Mileage claims for each preceding recording period are to be forwarded to the program director or designee by the 5th day of the following month. Forms are available at the Agency office for reporting mileage.
2. The rate of reimbursement for mileage shall be at a flat rate equal to the maximum allowed per the IRS code act effective upon the same date as effected by the IRS.
3. Calculation of reimbursable mileage amounts shall be based upon approved business mileage. Business mileage is not eligible defined as miles driven between one business location and another business location.
4. Commute miles are miles between home and the otherwise scheduled first work stop of the day and between home and the otherwise scheduled last work stop of the day.
5. In the case of conferences or other temporary work assignments where the employee starts and/or ends the travel at their home, the claim for mileage should be based on the shorter of the distance from home to take graduate courses in that field; 2) that the course event/temporary work will directly benefit the staff member’s assignment or anticipated from CCRESA to the event/temporary work assignment; and 3) such courses are approved by the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee. Grandfather Clause: Licensed staff members who prior to January 1, 2018, began taking graduate-level courses that extend past MA but do not lead to an advanced degree or endorsement may be approved to continue taking such courses for educational advancement to either MA+15 or MA+30 (only one, not both), provided that the coursework is completed and grades are submitted by December 30, 2019. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For all staff members hired A. The salaries of teachers covered by this Agreement are set forth in Schedule A, which is attached to and incorporated in this Agreement. Such salary shall remain in effect during the term of this Agreement provided, however, that upon written notice to the other party at least sixty (60) days prior to the expiration of this contract (the expiration date being June 30), either party may request the re-opening of negotiations of such salary schedule or any other clause or part of this Agreement. The "Plus Fifteen" (+15) semester hours and "Plus Thirty Six " (+36) semester hours on the salary schedule apply at the start of the next semester after May 31, 2014, outside they are earned and provided the BEA member has provided proof of same to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. At the Master’s level the (+15) and (+36) hours must be earned after the date the Masters Degree was earned and provided the BEA member has provided proof of same. Official transcripts must be sent to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources prior to processing a degree change on the salary schedule.
B. A teacher entering the Bedford Public School System for the first time or re-entering after voluntary resignation shall be given credit on the salary schedule set forth in Schedule A for years teaching experience credit in an accredited elementary or secondary school system. Both parties agree that future settlements regarding back pay will be given for up to seven (7) years. To governed by all applicable federal labor laws and federal regulations.
C. Degreed teachers under contract and holding certification shall be eligible for educational advancement, a staff member must be taking graduate-level classes that are part of an advanced degree program or endorsement that will benefit the district. All courses used for this credit must be approved reimbursed by the Superintendent or hisBoard at the rate of seventy-five ($75) per semester hour and fifty dollars ($50) per term/her designee. Only fully licensed staff members will be eligible quarter hours for these tracks. Undergraduate course work will count college hours earned while employed by Bedford Public Schools in areas related to their chosen field and beyond those hours required for educational advancement provided that: 1continuing certification (eighteen (18) the staff member is not eligible to take graduate courses in that field; 2) that the course work will directly benefit the staff member’s assignment or anticipated assignment; and 3) such courses are approved by the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee. Grandfather Clause: Licensed staff members who prior to January 1, 2018, began taking graduate-level courses that extend past MA but do not lead to an advanced degree or endorsement may be approved to continue taking such courses for educational advancement to either MA+15 or MA+30 (only one, not bothsemester hours), provided that the coursework is completed and grades are submitted by December 30, 2019. MA + 30 will be available only for staff members hired prior to those classes beginning June 1, 20142005 and thereafter. A Master teacher who is laid-off as of Social Work/Psychology Degree October 15 is eligible for such pay if both the credits were earned and the teacher was employed when the course commenced. Proof of earned credits shall be considered submitted to the equivalent Assistant Superintendent of MA+30. Based upon degree program, Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists may also be considered equivalent of MA + 30. Educational advancement will only occur once a year at the beginning of the school year. In order to qualify educational advancement in a given year, the staff member must notify the Human Resources Department by submitting an official transcript, grade report or certificate of completion no later than September 1st in the year in which the educational advancement is to take place. The actual change and corresponding compensation adjustment will only occur when the official transcript is received by the Human Resources Department and will be retroactive to the beginning of the school year. Salary computations reimbursement shall be made on following the basis regular Board meetings in January and June. This policy shall not be applicable to those teachers who receive grants from private foundations or state, federal, or local scholarships. Notification of 180 days this section shall be given to the teachers by the Administration in October and in May. As a condition for employment, all new professional teaching employees shall pursue state-mandated professional development with the duration first three (3) years of the agreement. All pro-rated days shall have salary adjusted accordingly. Staff members who are injured on the job while actively performing their assigned duties shall suffer no loss in pay for a temporary disability resulting from such injuryemployment. The District shall pay offer a cafeteria plan of opportunities for new hires to meet state requirements, including, but not limited to the difference above, plus orientation days.
D. The salary schedule is based on the regular school calendar and the normal teaching load as defined in the Agreement. Reimbursement equal to twenty percent (20%) of the teacher’s current salary between on Schedule A, capped at Step Five (5), will be paid to a teacher assuming an extra class for the entire school year at a building using the semester schedule. If a teacher at a building using the semester schedule only teaches for one semester, then the teacher will be paid at ten percent (10%) of the teacher’s current salary on Schedule A, capped at Step Five (5). Assignment of an extra class for the school year shall be voluntary and shall be offered first to the highly qualified candidate with the most District-wide seniority within the applicable building. If a highly qualified teacher is not needed for the class, then it shall be offered to the candidate with the most District-wide seniority within the applicable building. If possible, schedules shall be adjusted to enable the said candidate to avail him/herself of this opportunity. This Paragraph was, and is, intended to provide coverage for occasional “orphan” classes with a .2 planning time filling in. It is not intended to avoid hiring a teacher. The Association President or designee shall be informed electronically of all .2 positions in the District.
E. Teachers required in the course of their work to drive personal automobiles from one (1) school building to another shall receive a car mileage reimbursement. The same allowance shall be given for the use of personal cars for field trips or other business of the District. This per mile reimbursement rate will be adjusted annually on January 1st according to the Internal Revenue Service standard rate.
F. Extra duties will be compensated in accordance with the Salary Schedules B and B1.
G. A non-degreed registered nurse shall receive eighty percent (80%) of the amount listed on the staff member teachers' salary scale for teachers holding a bachelor's degree. A degreed registered nurse shall receive ninety percent (90%) of the amount listed on the teachers' salary scale for teachers holding a bachelor's degree.
H. Teachers completing coursework that allows for a degree change on the salary schedule shall be compensated in the following manner: Coursework completed before the first day of school reflects as an entire year degree change and payment will be processed once official transcripts are received in the HR Office and spread over the remaining pays for said school year. Coursework completed after the first day of school and prior to the completion of 1st semester shall be reflected as a 2nd semester degree change (teacher receives one- half (1/2) of increment amount). Payment will be processed as a 2nd semester degree change once official transcripts are received in the HR Office and spread over the remaining pays for said school year.
I. Upon completion of the 12th, 14th, 19th, 24th, and 27th years of service to Bedford, teachers shall receive longevity increments according to the chart below. Years of service shall include leave of absence (Article 12, Section D), sabbatical (Article 11), but not leave of absence due to sickness (Article 12, Section A) or child care related leaves (Article 12, Section E). Student Support Coordinators’ work year will consist of one hundred eighty-four (184) workdays. All contractual benefits within the existing Master Agreement with the exception of Longevity are afforded to Student Support Coordinators. Bedford Public Schools and Bedford Education Association agree that the Student Support Coordinators (Home School Coordinators) will receive, minimally, 70% of Bachelor’s step one if less than a four-year degree (or equivalent); 80% of Bachelor’s step one with a four-year degree or equivalent; and 80% of Bachelor’s step one, with a $500 one-time stipend for a Master’s degree or the equivalent. Longevity will be $200 per year. The district encourages certification/degree in a relevant area of counseling. Upon receiving Family Life Certification each SSC shall receive a stipend of $500. School Support Coordinators who are working towards their Masters degree in Counseling shall receive BEA contractual benefits according to college reimbursement. The District agrees that an elementary school support coordinator position with department chair like responsibilities shall be posted at the five thousand dollars ($5,000) (formerly $1,343) per school year. It is eligible understood that this coordinator must have a Masters in counseling and shall work an additional hour daily to collect under assume his/her extra responsibilities.
K. The District agrees to pay one-half (1/2) of the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act and certification fee for the staff BEA member’s actual salary at time process/examination; upon passage of temporary disabilitythe National Teacher Certification the instructor shall receive fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500) annually per year as long as the certificate is valid. Any BEA member currently having attained, and or in the process of attaining, said certification shall charge the pro-rated share of salary paid against the staff member’s sick leave benefitsfully participate in this financial plan.

PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For all staff A. The basic salaries of professional unit members hired after May 31covered by this agreement are set forth in Appendix A, 2014which is attached to and incorporated in this agreement. B. Placement on the salary schedule shall be in accordance with the years of experience, highest degree consistent with assignment, and the number of semester hours earned beyond said degree. The Association agrees to grant steps for relevant work experience at the rate of one step for every two years of experience outside experience credit of teaching up to a maximum of six steps providing the individual has a bachelor’s degree or greater. Upon completion of three years of employment and attainment of a teaching certificate, the individual will be given granted additional steps for relevant work experience, in excess of the years considered above, for up to seven (7) an additional eight years non-teaching experience at a rate of one step per two years. To The maximum number of steps to be eligible for educational advancementgranted is a total of ten steps under this provision. This provision shall apply to existing staff similarly situated at the start of the contract year. The Superintendent, a staff member must be taking graduate-level classes that are part of an advanced degree program or endorsement that will benefit the district. All courses used for this credit must be approved by the Superintendent or his/her designee, will consult with the President of the Association, or his/her designee, on the step placement of any new hire prior to the person being brought before the School Board and a contract begin offered to him/her regarding step placement.
C. The salary schedule is based upon the regular school calendar as set forth in Appendix A, and the normal assignment of such non-teaching duties as, but not limited to, bus duty, recess, lunch, dances, and class activities. Only fully licensed staff For teaching assignments in excess of the regular school calendar and contract, unit members shall be paid their pro rata daily rate as defined in this article.
D. A unit member whose work is adjudged unsatisfactory may be retained at the same salary step for the succeeding year. The unit member shall be so notified in writing by April 15 and given the reasons for withholding same. Before written notice is given, the following administrative action must have occurred: administrative evaluations must have indicated the areas of unsatisfactory performance and indicated the expected correction. E. Placement on the B+15, B+30, or Masters track is dependent upon final approval of the Superintendent of Schools. All courses and accepted degree programs should be related to the unit member’s professional area of work.
F. The starting pay date for the 2009-2010 school year will be eligible August 28, 2009. The District will no longer offer a double pay in the month of December. Each payment shall include a listing of all deductions for these tracksthat pay period.
G. A unit member in the Northumberland School District will receive, in addition to the unit member’s regular contractual remuneration according to Appendix A of this agreement, an additional $15,000 during the final one, two or three years of service upon written notification to the Superintendent of Schools of the unit member’s intent to retire. Undergraduate course work At the unit member’s option, the total amount of the $15,000 may be taken in the final year of service or it may be divided into two $7,500 payments in each of the final two years of employment, or into three $5,000 payments in the final three years of service. The notification shall take place no later than November 1st during the school year in which the unit member intends to retire. Notwithstanding any other provisions in the Agreement, the amounts payable under retirement shall be reduced by such amount necessary to prevent the School District from being assessed y the New Hampshire Retirement System under RSA 100-A:16 III-a or other similar statutes or regulations. For unit members who choose to spread the payment over two or three years, the notice must be provided no later than November 1st during the school year in which the first payment will count for educational advancement be made. Payments will be provided that: 1) within 60 calendar days of the staff last day of school. The notification to the Superintendent of Schools of the intended retirement date will be final and binding upon the unit member. A unit member is not eligible who intends to take graduate courses advantage of this section must first meet the following qualifications:
1. The unit member must have accrued a minimum of ten (10) years of full-time teaching experience in that field; the Northumberland School District by date of retirement, and:
2) that . Either of the course work will directly benefit the staff member’s assignment or anticipated assignment; and 3) such courses are approved following criteria must apply by the Superintendent or date of retirement:
a. The unit member must have fifteen (l5) years total full-time teaching experience, or:
b. The unit member must reach fifty-five (55) years of age. If a unit member chooses to withdraw his/her retirement request, he/she must do so no later than May 1st of the Superintendent’s designeeschool year that they gave notice, if they planned to receive the lump sum payment. Grandfather Clause: Licensed staff If they chose divided payments, the request must be approved before any payments are made. The Board reserves the right to deny any request.
H. Any member of the bargaining unit receiving longevity benefits during the 2000-2001 contract year will receive the same amount for the balance of their years employed with the district.
I. The Association has agreed to work with the Administration on developing an enhanced/compressed pay track (in addition to our current tracks) to recognize and encourage “Master Teacher” status. The Master Teacher standards established nationally and the Xxxxxxxxx Xxxxxxxxx domains of effective teaching are some of the references to be used in this study.
J. The District will provide a sick day buyback for bargaining members who prior to January 1, 2018, began taking graduate-level courses that extend past MA but do not lead to an advanced degree or endorsement may be approved to continue taking such courses for educational advancement to either MA+15 or MA+30 (only one, not both), provided that the coursework is completed and grades are submitted by December 30, 2019have accumulated more than 100 days. PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION. For 7.1 The basic salaries paid to teachers per this Agreement are set forth in Appendix B of this Agreement. The professional rate is $30/hr to be increased annually by 62.5% of the PPF grant increase or 1%, whichever is greater.
7.2 Unless it is in the best interest of the District to do otherwise, all staff members teachers shall be hired after May 31at Step 1 of the appropriate salary schedule, 2014regardless of experience. To be eligible for educational advancement, a staff member must be taking graduate-level classes that are part of an advanced degree program or endorsement that will benefit the district. All courses used for this credit must be approved by the Superintendent or his/her designee. Undergraduate course work Credit may be granted in additional circumstances with approval of the Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services whose decision would not be grievable.
7.4 Any assignment in addition to the normal teaching schedule, extra-curricular duties and assignments set forth in Appendix C, and summer school courses, shall not be obligatory but shall be with the consent of the teacher.
A. The basic salaries of teachers involved in extra-curricular duties covered by this Agreement are set forth in Appendix C of this Agreement. Notice of all postings will count for educational advancement provided that: 1) be sent via email.
B. Any vacancy in an extra-curricular position which occurs during the staff member school year shall be sent via email SLCS employees.
C. The parties recognize that from time to time, the creation of additional extra duty positions is not eligible to take graduate courses in that field; 2) that the course work will directly benefit the staff member’s assignment or anticipated assignment; and 3) such courses are approved by the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designeedesirable. Grandfather Clause: Licensed staff Bargaining unit members who prior want to January 1add positions to Schedule C during the length of the Agreement shall follow the procedure outlined in Appendix C. No increases in percentage will be negotiated during the life of the Agreement.
