PTO Unit Guidelines. Each nursing unit shall establish a unit PTO committee which, with the consensus of the manager(s) of that unit and a majority of staff nurses on that unit, shall develop PTO unit guidelines, copies of which will be kept on the unit and in Nursing Administration, and will be sent to the Association. These guidelines shall address, at a minimum, (a) a definition of prime time for the unit; (b) the number of staff who can be scheduled off at any time, including prime time; (c) a fair and equitable system for assigning holidays, including Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve; and (d) the number of pending PTO requests a nurse may maintain on the books at any one time. These guidelines must be in compliance with this Article; they are intended to supplement, but not replace, the provisions of this Agreement.
