Common use of Public Duty Leave Clause in Contracts

Public Duty Leave. (a) Upon written request of the employee, the Board shall allow leave of absence without pay so that an employee may be a candidate in federal, provincial or municipal elections. (b) An employee who is elected to public office shall, on request, be granted leave of absence without pay or benefits during the term of public office. Employees granted such leave shall be permitted to maintain their benefit coverage by paying the total cost of premiums for the period of the leave.
