Report of Sick Leave Usage. Any illness, medical appointment or emergency which will necessitate use of sick leave shall be reported utilizing the designated method by the Employee to the Employer as soon as possible, and it shall be the responsibility of the Employee to assure proper reporting of the use of sick leave for record keeping purposes. The method of reporting sick leave usage shall be determined by the Employer and made known to staff. If possible, Employees shall notify their immediate supervisor in advance of a work shift if they are ill or have a medical appointment or emergency which will necessitate the use of sick leave. An Employee need not call in each day after the initial notification if they can provide a reasonable estimate of the expected length of the absence. Sick leave in excess of earned sick leave accruals may be charged to earned and available vacation leave or leave without pay at the Employee's option. Leave without pay must obtain prior approval from the President. Sick leave accruals shall be taken and reported in increments of no less than fifteen minutes. Any holiday that falls during a period that an Employee is on sick leave will be charged as a holiday and not taken off the total accumulated sick leave.

  • Utilization of Sick Leave Employees who have accrued paid leave time shall be eligible for paid leave for any period of absence from employment which includes but is not limited to the employee’s illness; injury; temporary disability; medical or dental care; or to attend to members of the employee’s or the employee’s spouse’s immediate family or domestic partner or domestic partner’s immediate family, where the employee’s presence is required because of illness or as otherwise required by the state or federal Family Medical Leave Act or other State law. The Employer may, in its sole discretion, require reasonable proof of illness or disability and/or certification of the necessity of the employee’s absence.

  • Accrual of Sick Leave a. A full-time employee shall accrue four (4) hours of sick leave for each biweekly pay period, or the number of hours that are directly proportionate to the number of days worked during less than a full-pay period, without limitation as to the total number of hours that may be accrued.

  • Cumulative Sick Leave 16.1 Employees covered by this collective agreement will carry forward their accumulated sick leave days from the predecessor school boards to a maximum of 280 days. Effective September 1, 1999 employees (other than temporary employees) shall be credited with two (2) days of sick leave for each month of active full time service to a yearly maximum of 20 days for ten month employees.
