Step Advancement Each faculty member will be granted one (1) increment on the salary schedule each year up to the maximum allowed. To qualify for advancement one (1) step on the salary schedule, employees must have been employed in a paid status or on any form of medical leave (FMLA, CFRA, etc.), or on military leave seventy-five percent (75%) or more of the school days in a school year.
Salary Advancement If, for whatever reason, an employee on probation is unable to perform his/her assigned duties because of absence from work for any period of time, his/her probation period, merit increase, and anniversary date shall be extended for the same length of the absence (also see Section 6.
Career Advancement In order to attain Professional Teacher Status, the Educator should achieve ratings of proficient or exemplary on each Performance Standard and overall. A principal considering making an employment decision that would lead to PTS for any Educator who has not been rated proficient or exemplary on each performance standard and overall on the most recent evaluation shall confer with the superintendent by May 1. The principal’s decision is subject to review and approval by the superintendent.
Salary Rate Upon Employment The hiring rate of pay for a new employee shall not be higher than the rate of pay for an existing employee in the same classification with similar work experience, training and education.
Lunch Period Employees who work five (5) hours or more shall be granted a thirty (30) minute, duty-free, uninterrupted lunch period, which may or may not be during the normal lunch hours.

Vacation Pay Upon Termination When an employee in the bargaining unit is terminated for any reason, he/she shall be entitled to all vacation pay earned and accumulated up to and including the effective date of the termination.
Teaching Load 11-1 The parties recognize that the number of students, the number of preparations, and the amount of planning time are related to student performance. 11-2 CLASS SIZE 11-2-1 The parties recognize that class size is related to economics and that reduction of class size is faced with fiscal constraints. The parties further recognize that it is not feasible at this time to set general numerical limitations upon class size because of physical space available, special programs, special student needs, attendance area variances, differences in scheduling systems, busing, and because of other variable causes affecting class size. Nevertheless, the parties shall make reasonable effort to maintain class size at reasonable, workable, and educationally effective levels in all situations. 11-3 TEACHER LOAD 11-3-1 Teaching load shall be defined as the number of separate class preparations that a teacher has per school day as delineated in the course description guide.
Vacation Credits Upon Death Earned but unused vacation entitlement shall be made payable, upon termination due to death, to the employee's dependent, or where there is no dependent, to the employee's estate.
Funding Period and Termination 17.1. The Commissioner does not commit to renew or continue financial support to the Recipient after the Funding Period.
