Vacation Credits Upon Death. Earned but unused vacation entitlement shallbe made payable, upon an employee’sdeath, to the employee’s estate. Compassionate leave of absence of three (3) days leave with pay shall be granted to a regular employee at the time of of death, upon application to the Executive Director or designate in the event of the death of a member of the employee’s immediate family. Immediate family is defined in this article as an employee’s: an employee’s parent (or alternatively step-parent) spouse or common law spouse child, or stepchild or adopted child xxxxxx child who is living with employee xxxxxx parent for a period exceeding one year t In the event of the death employee’s brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law the employee shall be entitled to special leave under Article for one day for the purpose of attending the funeral. The employee take up to two (2) additional with pay when necessary to travel to attend the funeral of the employees’ immediate family. If an employee is on vacation leave at the time of bereavement, the employee shall be granted the compassionate leave of three (3) days and shall be credited the appropriate number of days to vacation leave credits. Compassionate leave with pay shall not apply when an employee is on leave of absence without pay.
