Schedule Reassignments. In the event that the Fire Chief or designee determines a need to reassign a bargaining unit member from one schedule to another schedule listed in Section A., the Fire Chief or designee will provide written notice to all impacted Battalion Chiefs of such need. Such notice will be provided at least seven (7) days prior to implementing the change. After providing such notice, the Fire Chief or designee may make reassignment(s). If the Association makes a request within five (5) days of this assignment, the Fire Chief or designee will meet with representatives of the Association to discuss the assignment(s) and to review alternatives. The Fire Chief or designee will then confirm or amend the assignment(s). In the event that the affected employee(s) assignment is involuntary, the assignment shall not exceed one (1) year.

At the meeting to discuss the change, the Battalion Chiefs’ input shall be solicited. The Battalion Chiefs will have the opportunity to request reassignment in writing. The Fire Chief or designee will provide at least seven (7) days notice, prior to implementing the change. After such notice and meeting, the Fire Chief or designee may make reassignment(s). If the Association makes a request within five (5) days of this assignment, the Fire Chief or designee will meet with representatives of the Association to discuss the assignment(s) and to review alternatives. The Fire Chief or designee will then confirm or amend the assignment(s). In the event that the affected employee(s) assignment is involuntary, the assignment shall not exceed one (1) year.

This provision shall not in itself alter the practice of rotating shifts where such practice presently exists. No employee who has a regular shift assignment on the effective date of the Agreement shall be involuntarily displaced from such shift assignment as a result of this Article.
