School Year. (a) The work year of all teachers covered by this Agreement shall commence no earlier than the Tuesday after Labor Day, unless mutually agreed upon by the Board and the Federation, and shall terminate no later than June 30 annually if possible under State Law. During such period there shall be scheduled no more than one hundred eighty-two (182) regular teaching days where pupil attendance is required. Similarly, during such period, teachers shall be required to report one day prior to the pupils' first school day and shall be required to be in attendance one day after the last scheduled day for pupil attendance but in no event be more than one hundred eighty-six (186) scheduled work days during such period. Teachers who were not employed by the Board during the previous school year may, for orientation and briefing purposes, be required to report four (4) days prior to the date upon which all other teachers are required to report. However, notwithstanding the foregoing, the Board may schedule two non-teaching work days contiguous to the beginning or end of the work year, provided the total length of the work year, including these two days, shall not exceed the overall one hundred eighty-six (186) workday limit. The length and scheduling of the school year will not be changed without prior notification to the Federation and opportunity to negotiate the impact of any such change.

School Year. (a) 1. The last day of each semester shall be one-half (½) teacher work days during such periodday and one- half (½) unassigned day. d. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving shall be release time in exchange for the two (2) parent teacher conferences. 2. Teachers who were not employed by new to the Board during district are required to attend a two-day new teacher orientation. 3. There shall be one (1) student early release day on the previous last student day of the school calendar for teacher work. 4. Students enrolled in the Developmental Preschool Program shall have a delayed start to the school year may, for orientation the first three (3) regularly scheduled student days and briefing purposes, shall be required to report released early from attending the last four (4) regularly scheduled student days. 5. There shall be a Teaching and Learning Committee at each building that is comprised of teachers and at least one (1) administrator. Additionally, there shall be a District Teaching and Learning Committee comprised equally of administrators and teachers. One (1) person from each Building Teaching and Learning Committee shall serve on the District Teaching and Learning Committee. 6. In the event that calamity days prior are to be made up if the amount used in a school year is in excess of five (5), a committee will be formed consisting of one representative from the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Education Association, one representative from the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Organization of Support Staff, one administrator, and one community member. The committee will make a recommendation to the date upon which all other Board as to when the days should be made up. Calamity make up days will be reflected on the District’s calendar. In the event of a delayed start due to District-wide or building calamity, teachers are required will be expected to reportreport to work at their normal schedule unless directed otherwise. School Year. A. The school year for teaching staff members shall be one-hundred eighty-three (a183) days. B.1 The school year for Child Study Team members and the High School Guidance Counselors shall be 183 days. In addition, the LDTC’s may work year up to a combined 20 additional days. There will be no meetings or trainings scheduled during this time. Under special circumstances, a situation may arise that require student supervision during emergencies beyond the regular dismissal time for students . After the emergency has concluded, the Parties shall meet to discuss whether any compensation may be owed for such changeadditional service. Department of Pupil Services: • Secondary School Counselors shall work a maximum extra twenty days after the contractual year and prior to the start of the next one as determined by the Superintendent or designee. Each day shall be paid at the employee’s per diem rate. The days shall be mutually agreed upon by May 15th and set by the Superintendent or designee. • Nurses and School Psychologists shall work a maximum of fifty (50) hours after the contractual year and prior to the start of the next one as determined by the Superintendent or designee. The hours shall be mutually agreed upon with the Superintendent or designee. These hours worked shall be paid at the employee’s per diem hourly rate. • For the above two categories of employees, the extended work year shall begin in the summer of 2023, which may include dates that pre-date the start of this contract. The parties agree the extended work year for these employees shall begin in the summer of 2023 under the terms identified herein.
