DISTRICT HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE. D.24.1 A District Health and Safety Committee shall be established in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations of the Workers
DISTRICT HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE. 1. The Board shall maintain a District Health and Safety Committee in accordance with the requirements of the Workers' Compensation Act and Regulations, which shall include representatives of the PRDTU.
2. The operation, function and responsibilities of the District Health and Safety Committee shall be consistent with the provisions of the Workers' Compensation Act and Regulations and the School Act and Regulations.
3. The District Health and Safety Committee shall assist in creating a safe and healthful place of work and learning.
4. The Board shall consider recommendations from the District Health and Safety Committee on health and safety matters.
DISTRICT HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE a. A District Health and Safety Committee shall be established in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation of the Workers' Compensation Act. The Committee shall be comprised of representatives of the VTF, the Board and other employee groups. The VTF shall have four (4) representatives.
b. The purpose of the Committee will be to fulfill those functions mandated by the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, and to provide recommendations to the Board (or a committee of the Board) to assist in maintaining a safe and healthful work environment, as follows:
i. To monitor accidents and injuries.
ii. To investigate complaints of unsafe or unhealthy conditions that have been reported and investigated, but not resolved at the school level.
iii. To determine that regular inspections have been carried out.
iv. To recommend measures required to attain compliance with the Workers' Compensation Act and Regulations.
v. To consider recommendations from the Union(s) and recommend implementation where warranted.
c. When an employee member of the District Health and Safety Committee is required to perform a function of this Committee during the school day, the Board shall provide the employee with release time necessary to perform this function.
d. The District Health and Safety Committee shall ensure that each worksite has a minimum of three (3) current copies of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation of the Workers' Compensation Act and three (3) copies of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Information Kits.
e. The Board shall ensure that the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is fully implemented in all worksites in the District.
f. The Board shall provide an education program to ensure that employees engaging in the use of hazardous materials understand the WHMIS labels and the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and are fully instructed in precautionary measures concerning specific materials.
DISTRICT HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE. A representative will be appointed from each work location health and safety committee to act as a representative to a district-wide Health and Safety Committee. The LRCEA President may also appoint a LRCEA member to serve as a representative on the District Health and Safety Committee. The District health and safety committee will be coordinated by the District manager who has overall responsibility for the District’s health and safety program. The committee will meet at least semiannually to review accident and safety experience in the District, to review changes to the IIPP, and to coordinate district-wide safety campaigns and procedures designed to combat unsafe and/or unhealthy practices and increase safety consciousness.
DISTRICT HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE a. The employer and the Association agree that there shall be a district "Health and Safety Committee" which will assist in creating a safe place of work, shall recommend actions and procedures that will improve the effectiveness of the district's Health and Safety Program and shall promote compliance with the Workers' Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
b. The Association shall be represented on the committee by a minimum of two members to be determined by the Association.
c. The committee shall be chaired as per the Terms of Reference of the District Health and Safety Committee, which are based on the Workers’ Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety regulations. The employer shall provide a secretary for this committee. Changes to the Terms of Reference for the District Health and Safety Committee must be approved by the Association.
d. A record of the proceedings of the committee shall be forwarded promptly to the Association, each worksite, the employer and the Workers' Compensation Board (WorkSafeBC).
DISTRICT HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE. The parties agree to the establishment and maintenance of a District Health and Safety Committee to be comprised of one (1) member selected from each building by the Association President. The Committee shall have scheduled meetings at least once a semester with the Director of Business, and or as needed, to address problems or concerns relating to health and safety within the District. This committee will make minutes available to staff members, with a copy sent to all building administrators and the Superintendent.
DISTRICT HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE. 27.1 There shall be a District Health and Safety Committee established by the Board which meets regularly and includes three (3) representatives of the Association.
27.2 The chairperson and secretary shall be elected from and by the members of the committee. Where the chairperson is a representative of the Board, the secretary shall be a representative of the Association or other employee union and vice versa.
27.3 The operation, function and responsibilities of the District Health and Safety Committee shall be consistent with guidelines and regulations established pursuant to the Workers' Compensation Act and the School Act.
27.4 The duties of the District Health and Safety Committee shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
a. To promote safe work practices and to assist in creating a safe and healthy workplace,
b. Consideration of recommendations from the joint site-based committees in respect to occupational health and safety matters and to recommend implementation where warranted.
c. Review of reports of current accidents, their causes and means of prevention; review of remedial action taken or required by reports from investigations and inspections,
d. To recommend actions which will improve the effectiveness of the occupational health and safety program, and
e. To promote compliance with WCB Regulations. Once school inspections are completed, school inspections reports must be posted at the work site and copies forwarded to XXXX. Copies of accident reports and investigations must be forwarded to XXXX.
DISTRICT HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE. The Board and the Association acknowledge that they share the responsibility of ensuring that the District Health and Safety Committee is functional and effective.
1. The Board shall maintain a District Health and Safety Committee in accordance with the requirements of the Workers' Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, which shall include representatives of the Association.
2. The operation, function and responsibilities of the District Health and Safety Committee shall be consistent with the provisions of the Workers' Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation and the School Act and Regulations.
3. The duties of the site-based Health and Safety Committees as contemplated by the
a. Determine that regular inspections of the place of employment are carried out;
b. Recommend measures required to attain compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation;
c. Consider recommendations from the work force in respect to occupational health and safety matters and shall recommend implementation where warranted;
d. Hold regular meetings at least once each month for the review of:
i. reports of current accidents, their causes and means of prevention;
ii. remedial action taken or required by the reports of investigations and inspections;
iii. any other matters pertinent to health and safety.
4. The Board shall provide all schools and District locations with a copy of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation.
5. The District Health and Safety Committee is an oversight committee intended to make recommendations to the Board on Occupational Health and Safety matters which include the following:
a. Matters not resolved by the site-based health and safety committees;
b. matters referred by the NDTA President (or designate) or the SD68 Human Resources Department.
c. identifying and facilitating training requirements and opportunities for site-based health and safety committees;
