Section 4. Educational Leave. After completing one (1) year of service a nurse, upon 29 request, may be granted a leave of absence without pay for educational purposes at an 30 accredited school when it is related to employment. The period of such leave of 31 absence shall not exceed one (1) year but it may be renewed or extended, when 32 necessary, at the request of the nurse and upon authorization by the Hospital. One (1) 33 year's leave of absence with any requested extension for education purposes may not 34 be provided more than once in any three-year period. Seniority credit and benefit 1 accrual, including hours toward step increase, will not build during leave of absence, as 2 per Article 7, Section 2.
