SICK LEAVE AND FUNERAL LEAVE. Section 10.1. Every seniority employee covered by this Agreement who works a fifty-six (56) hour work week schedule shall accrue twelve (12) hours of sick leave allowance for each completed calendar month of service. When a forty (40) hour employee actually uses a day of sick leave, that he/she may perform and/or the length of time that he/she may continue to work prior to the anticipated onset of disability. The employee shall have eight (8) hours deducted from be permitted to work until such time as his/her accumulated unused sick leave. Such physician indicates that he/she should be granted sick leave allowance for disability reasons. (c) In the event of sick leave for any purposeemergency or sickness, the Director following procedure shall be followed in contacting proper authorities concerning any reason for absenteeism that will reflect on a bargaining unit member’s working area responsibility. During school days, call the Associate Superintendent for Operations Office, Charlotte Public Schools, 541-5100 or 541-5114, and make every reasonable attempt to speak with the Associate Superintendent or the attendant taking calls for his/her office. Employees shall make every effort to call five (5) hours before scheduled work time.
(d) The Employer shall provide an attendance incentive as follows: For each six (6) months with perfect attendance, based upon the Contract year, the employee shall receive a cash bonus of Police and Fire Services may require two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00). Perfect attendance shall be defined as no absence other than personal days, funeral days, or approved vacation.
(e) A leave of absence for a certificate maximum of a medical doctor or other competent professional individual giving information as to four (4) days per working year shall be granted with pay for an illness in the circumstances involved. The immediate family, for these purposes, chargeable against the employee's sick leave allowance. Immediate family shall be regarded to include the parents, current defined as: spouse, childrenmother or father, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandchildren and current parentsmother-in-law, father-in- law, child, grandchild, sister, and brother.
