Personal Business Days. Employees may use of to three (3) personal business days, one of which may be an undeclared personal business day, which will be deducted from the employee's sick bank. A. The following statements will act as guidelines for the local administrator in giving approval to the applicant for personal business days. B. A personal business day can be granted, but is not mandatory when there is: (1) A religious holiday not identified in the Agreement. (2) An appointment at a Federal, State or Local Government office after normal channels have been exhausted. (3) An involvement in a court of law. (4) A convocation or honors assembly involving a member of the immediate family. (5) An appointment to arrange a final settlement or financing the purchase of a home. (6) A need for being involved in moving from one home to another. (7) A need to leave early to attend a conference or convention to which he/she is a delegate. (8) An involvement in a wedding of a member of the immediate family. (9) A desire to attend a funeral when it is not covered under the sick leave policy. (10) A desire to be with a person who is ill and which is not covered under the sick leave policy. The above is not an exhaustive list and items may be added during the school year by the consent of both parties. C. When there is a request for personal business day or days as indicated in Article XII, 7.B, the administrator may charge a portion of the personal business against sick leave with the remaining portion being assumed by the applicant with loss of pay. D. Personal business days cannot be used for time immediately before or after an established holiday for additional vacation. E. The administrator may, in unusual circumstances, grant personal business time to a person when the applicant's request is not specifically covered by the listing. The administrator, using his best judgment will take into consideration such items as length of service, attendance, involvement in school's activities and other factors which are pertinent to the case. F. Personal business days shall be requested at least one week in advance, except in cases of emergency. Approval must be received before the employee takes the time off. G. Requests shall be made through the Department of Maintenance and Custodial Operations.

Personal Business Days. Each administrator shall receive three (3) personal days per school year. If an administrator does not use these days, they will be converted to sick days at the end of the year with unlimited accumulation.
Personal Business Days. At the beginning of every school year each teacher shall be credited with three (3) days to be used for the teacher's personal business. A personal business day may be used for any purpose at the discretion of the teacher. The unused portion shall accumulate as sick leave.
Personal Business Days. Each full-time employee covered by this contract shall be entitled to four (4) days of personal leave, as defined by statute, per school year without loss of pay. One (1) unused personal day may be added to the next school year’s days for a maximum of five (5) personal leave days. Any other remaining days shall be transferred to the teacher’s accumulated sick leave. A teacher employed under regular contract, or a qualifying temporary contract, for only a portion of the school day and/or year shall be entitled to the proportionate number of days of personal leave.
Personal Business Days. Two (2) days per year may be used for purposes of personal business which cannot be transacted outside of the regular school day, or when arrangements cannot be made to avoid its use. The personal business day may not be taken on days preceding or succeeding a vacation or holidays without specific prior approval by the building principal. In order to be eligible for personal business leave, the teacher must file his/her request with the building principal at least seventy-two (72) hours before taking said leave and obtain the approval of the building principal. Notification may be waived in cases of emergency by the building principal. Building principals may deny such requests where a staffing problem exists. Such leaves shall not be accumulative. Unused personal business days each year shall be added to the teacher's sick leave accumulative at the end of the school year.
Personal Business Days. Personal Business Days shall be administered on a calendar year basis and one (1) day of paid leave per calendar year shall be credited to employees for use in personal or special circumstances. The scheduling of leave shall be subject to the Company’s operational requirements and the Company’s agreement shall not be unreasonably withheld. Commencing January 1, 2018, at no time shall an employee have a credit of more than one (1) Personal Business Days. Any days in excess of one (1) Personal Business Days will be lost. For clarity, this means no payout of unused Personal Business Days (including, but not limited to termination of employment). Notwithstanding the above, should the employee submit a Personal Business Day request within a reasonable time frame and it is denied by management, the Company at its discretion, will either pay the day out, or carry it forward. In light of the foregoing, employees shall have until December 31, 2017 to schedule and use any Personal Business Days, with the approval of the Managers involved, so as to ensure compliance with the transition the new policy described above. Any unused leave shall be paid to the employees involved via direct bank deposits, less appropriate deductions at 2017 pay rates. The Company shall make any such payments by January 31, 2018.

Personal Business Days. 34.2.1 Personal business days may be taken solely to attend to personal business that cannot be conducted outside of the work day such as medical appointments (may be charged to either the personal or sick banks) legal or financial business and/or home repairs. Personal days may not include compensated professional activities unrelated to the college or other activities for which the employee is paid. Advance notice must be given to the immediate supervisor when possible. It is recognized that emergencies may arise which prevent such prior notification. However, upon return to work an explanation must be furnished to the supervisor if requested. Full-time employees may use up to five personal business days per academic year (September through August). Part-time employees may have two personal business absences during the Fall/Winterim period and two during the Spring/Summer period. Days identified as personal days are drawn from the sick bank. Any unused personal days will be rolled back into the sick bank at the end of the academic year. In the event an employee has used up all personal business days, the President of the College or President’s designee may grant additional personal business days to be charged against the cumulative sick bank. Misuse of the above provisions shall result in the loss of pay.

Personal business days are not intended for extensions of break periods. C. For days requested during the first and last week of each semester or session and/or the day preceding or following any College designated holiday period, the use of personal business days must be approved. The designated administrator will provide an answer within three business days from the time the request was made. Approval will be granted for purposes as specified above.
