Sick Leave Credits Run Out. Whenever an employee's days of illness exceed his cumulative credit, the excess days of illness shall not be carried forward but shall be regarded as days of illness without pay.

Sick Leave Credits Regular employees who have completed their probationary period will accrue sick leave credits at the rate of one day per month to a maximum of 156 days. Upon completion of their probationary period, an employee will be credited with sick leave back to the employee's starting date. Upon request, an employee will be advised in writing of the balance of their sick leave credits.
Sick Leave Benefit There are two types of sick leave benefits. Annual sick leave is the sick leave days credited each year to each employee in accordance with the provisions of the local collective bargaining agreements. Banked sick leave is previously accumulated unused sick leave to which unused annual sick leave may be added at the end of each anniversary year.
Expiration of Sick Leave Credits Employees who are absent due to sickness beyond their accumulated sick leave credits shall be placed on an unpaid leave of absence until they are in receipt of long-term disability benefits. Sick Leave Benefits Sick leave is an indemnity benefit and not an acquired right. A Nurse who is absent from a scheduled shift on approved sick leave shall only be entitled to sick leave pay if the Nurse is not otherwise receiving pay for that day, and providing the Nurse has sufficient sick leave credits.
